Unscientific approach toward considering our next coach at MSU. Methodology is simple. Take an average of rankings from: punt returns, opp punt returns, kickoff returns, opp kickoff returns, punting, opp punting, field goals, opp field goals, opp PAT, kick/punts blocked -- sort by that average -- only include teams that average inside the top 50 here(we were WELL below this threshold at about a 78 average -- good for about #100 nationally) -- and this is what we end up with.

UCLA 28.7
Boise State 34.5
North Texas 36.9
Stanford 37.8
Houston 38.3
Alabama 38.5
Bowling Green 39
Rutgers 39.9
Duke 40.5
UAB 41.5
Miami (Florida) 41.8
Utah State 43.6
Memphis 43.7
UCF 43.9
Texas A&M 44.3
Air Force 45
Georgia Tech 46.3
Northwestern 46.3
Indiana 46.6
Tennessee 46.9
Arkansas State 47
Colorado State 48
Ohio State 48.5
Washington State 49.5
Minnesota 49.6
Navy 49.6
Toledo 49.7
Vanderbilt 49.7

There should be some VERY good candidates that can be had reasonably priced up pretty high on this list...

How many of those coaches have switched schools after these new rounds of hiring? BG, Arky St., Vandy and Boise maybe?

Arkansas State's coach just went to Boise. He was impressive.

Tommy Perry- ST/RB coach at North Texas. Was at South Alabama before UNT and it sounds like he did a good job there. He was also an intern at Alabama under Saban and Mike Shula.

Jamie Christian- ST/Inside receivers (very interesting to me) AND TE coach at Houston. Was at Arizona State before UH and he has produced a Lou Groza winner.

Matt Sanders- ST/assistant DB coach. Also has OLB coaching experience. From UAB, which is changing their coach.

James Shibest- ST/TE. University of Memphis. LOTS of SEC experience. Was at Arkansas and Ole Miss under Nutt. Was named the ST coach of the year in 2009 by footballscoop.com. Likely knows Mississippi pretty well as far as recruiting.

Perry currently makes $98k @ North Texas and has no recruits attributed to him(North Texas doesn't have any "ranked" recruiters).

Christian currently makes $200k, is listed as the #21 recruiter in the AAC with 2 3* commits, and is the #2 recruiter at Houston. Last year, Christian was the #5 overall recruiter in the conference.

Sanders made $40k @ UAB, is listed as the #25 recruiter in C-USA with 1 3* commit, and is narrowly the #3 recruiter for UAB(could easily be #1).

Shibest currently makes $260k @ Memphis, is listed as the #42 recruiter in C-USA with 1 2* commit, and is narrowly the #3 recruiter for Memphis.
