Couldn't be happier for those guys. This team is resilient. Every time it looks like the game is about to slip away, they fight back and fight back. Get you a few recruits in here, Rick, and you may very well be here for quite a while.

We're putting an outstanding season together. Love how things are going.

Yep, we would have actually won fairly comfortably in regulation today had we just shot a reasonably decent percentage from the free throw line.

We are a different team at home. We feed off the crowd. We need to fill the Hump for these Dawgs and they'll be filled with confidence. I thought Fred played his best game in over a month today and Ware was fantastic.

I got raked over the coals by a poster that suggested that all teams play hard and fight back a few weeks ago. The suggestion that the team with Moultrie and Sidney worked as hard on the court as this one is the most asinine thing I've ever heard about MSU basketball. Once this team gets a legit 3 point specialist and a more agile big man, Rick Ray's coaching is going to prove to be invaluable.

I'm in no way making this some shot at Stansbury. But basketball is a great sport to watch if team chemistry exists and 5-7 players put pressure on the ball defensively like we do in addition to fighting for every rebound.

Their resiliency is a direct result of Ray's philosophy of not allowing them to try to score by just slinging up 3's. He instructs them to not take any three early in the offensive set. Pass and get the ball in the paint. That means the team knows it cannot win games without using all 5 guys moving and cutting away from the ball.

In a way, it reminds me of Richard Williams' teams.

Sidney played hard twice. Once @Vandy and once @Ole Miss. He had unreal talent just was soft, fat and lazy. If he had worked 1/2 as hard as Ware he'd been a lottery pick. Now he just buys lottery tickets like the rest of us.

Easy to be proud of this team. Really shows what a no quit attitude will get you. I can't wait to see what Ray will do with a full team.

Maybe I overstated that, but I have seen some great efforts by MSU teams over the years. You are spot on regarding the chemistry of our team. It's outstanding, and Ray is a big part of that.

This is so true, and such a disappointment. I didn't write Sidney off until late in the 2012 season just because of the incredible flashes he showed, hoping the light would eventually come on. When he decided to go to the basket, he couldn't be stopped; too bad he hardly ever made that decision. The thing that finally caused me to completely lose hope for him was the time after time in 2012 conference play that he'd get the ball in the low post, matched up one on one against a defender two inches and 60 pounds lighter than him, and just pass it back out without even putting it on the floor (that and the awful defense finally caught up for me). One of the ultimate examples of "what could have been." Size, skill, touch, smarts, and 3 point range all in the same package, just a complete lack of the necessary drive and attitude to put them to use.
