Anyone have info on the new rail line coming down the eastern bank of the tombigbee? I've seen it at the Amory bridge and it's coming south, just north of the Aberdeen lock and dam. What is this project for and who is building it? I hear them driving pilings right now. My hunting land is on that side of the river, in becker bottom, and comes within 80 ft of the river (US Army Corp owns the land on river). Wondering what we should expect, becaus the tracks haven't made it this far yet? Thanks for the info.

Monroe county just hired a new "recruit industry" guy. Forget his exact title. This may fit in with that to try to use the waterway to help bring in more industry. Don't know which way it goes from there as far as your hunting land but a county supervisor I would guess should be able to give you some info.

is that a deep water channel all the way up to pick wick? if so, that goes all the way to Paducah, which splits east/west back to the Mississipli river and to Cincy/Pittsburg.

just can't understand why more industry hasn't developed in that area if so. Easy transport, low cost labor, good highway system going through Tupelo now right between Memphis and Burmingham. You could get east/west easily there with very low labor cost. I know y'all are probably thinking south of Tupelo, but Tupelo should be the target for growth with the infrastructure they have. Could be a huge boom for the state.

same with Natchez. It's the "safe zone" on the MS when a hurricane comes in. they tell the barges to go north and don't stop until you get to Natchez. That should be a huge selling point. An LNG refinery and port could be huge there.

I agree with this too. Some of the problem I have been told is that Natchez is not industry friendly. This comes from people who live in the area. Promote Pilgrimage, which I enjoy and think is great, but industry could flourish too.

old money doesn't want new money coming in. it's slowly killing a once great town.
