I don't think the title is fair for Alford. How much of a prayer do you have when both your parents stay in the news for getting arrested? Going to Oxford and getting away from them was probably to best thing for him, sadly.

He got arrested for weapon charges while at USM. Can't remember if he got kicked off the USM team or just decided to transfer. Either way, it came pretty soon after the arrest. Here's a link:

I have always thought he should have just focused on baseball. His time at USM was awful and now playing safety at Ole Miss. Just seems odd.
