Seven years ago, this is what we had:

Larry Templeton, Athletic Director. When you have low expectations, you will typically hit them. LT nailed them.

Ron Polk, Head Baseball Coach. His second stint at State was devastating. In five years, he destroyed what he built in over 20.

Sylvester Croom, head Football coach. Good man, great public speaker, NFL caliber RB coach. In no way a good HC.

Thanks to Doc, the LT regime of terror ended. That led to Greg Byrne, who gave Croom an option, change your pathetic offense or be gone. Byrne hired Dan Mullen. Byrne also fought off epic pressure by Polk and his crannies to hire Tommy Raffo - a Polk disciple.

Think about this - While Raffo has been at Arkansas State, he's seen three one-year head football coaches. They were one year coaches because they were good and got much better jobs, two as SEC head coaches. Meanwhile Raffo struggles to do above .500 and hasn't been sniffed by any other programs.

So wherever you are Robert "Doc" Foglesong, God Bless You !!!!

I would have to say Amen to that.

The Foglesong Era absolutely couldn't have gone any better than it did. He upset the established order, introduced a little discomfort to an overwhelmingly 'comfortable' university.

But he also pissed a lot of people off and was on the verge of doing some radically stupid sh*t. He left at the perfect time.

He made significant advances for our athletic programs there's no doubt. You have to respect Foglesong and Byrne for the tough and correct decisions that were made.

And Templeton will be a significant voice behind the scenes to get rid of the cowbells again. He is Slive's confidant on MSU and that is sad indeed.

Will be a happy day to me when Slive and Templeton both go off into real retirement and are never heard from again.

Yep.

Let's not forget Templeton voted against cowbells.
