UGA fans are thrilled to be losing Grantham. No way Wilson gets the job. I hope they don't come after Collins.

Grantham is over rated imo.... can't believe Louisville may be paying him $1 million per year.

Would UGA hire Chizik as DC? He is not a good HC but was a very good DC. Or what about Eddie O?

UGA will have their pick. I'm not so sure this wasn't orchestrated either. was the coaches convention this week or last week? Seems too fitting that he conveniently took another job at a lower tier school in the same position after the uproar about UGA's defense all year.

Rumor is Orgeron is going to be Bama's D-line coach. I could see them going after Kirby Smart and we'll see what happens from there.

Don't see Kirby Smart getting pushed out.... Saban won't allow it lol

Yeah, have to hope Richt doesn't decide he likes Collins.

Saban coaches the D- it doesnt matter who the DC is

Saban also has Kevin Steele on his staff who was the director of football operations or some title like that who just turned down a DC job from I think Georgia. May be nothing to it, but it is interesting. But it may also mean that Steele knows a spot is about to open on their staff.

Yep. Which is why they could name an idiot like Coach O DC and still be good on D. Saban is running that show.

Where is Manny Diaz going to end up?

I don't think Richt will do it, but I think he should look into Manny Diaz. Manny was stuck with some pussified soft players at Texas. I think with UGA's talent on defense, Diaz would be very successful.

However, first I think Richt should give Narduzzi at Michigan State a call.

If you were Collins, and with the defense you have coming back next season, you would leave for Georgia if MSU equaled the pay? This question may seem obvious, but Collins has plenty of talent to work with in our recruiting classes and Mullen is getting the offense going.

Look at what happened the last time an MSU defensive coordinator left, and, IMO, Richt's situation at Georgia isn't a hell of lot different than what Mack Brown's was at Texas. The grass isn't really greener when you already have an SEC job. Surely Mullen would tell Collins that.

I'm not totally sure Richt can afford to hire a guy that only been a D-coordinator for one year

@coachingsearch Best D-Coordinator this hiring cycle is Geoff Collins at MSU... guy does a great job with down talent

Funny how this down talent keeps going high in the NFL draft. I haven't seen many Rebel defensive players in the NFL the last few years.

Funny how 2 of the last 3 MSU D-coordinators could be highly sought after when the OM D-coordinator never is.

These guys just don't think shit through before they talk.

Diaz might end up back at ESPN. When you get fired mid season, you have a hard time selling that to fans and alums.

Getting run over by a lousy BYU team will make it even worse.

I think Diaz is a great coach. Takes a special set of players to show up for that guy though. I saw the way he yelled at players....... Guy was a nut job. A genius nut job. I don't see how a 5 star Texas high school legend would sit there and take that abuse. Definitely a raw talent specialist. Just look at the '10 roster. He juiced every ounce out of those guys.

He'll land on his feet. He still managed to improve the stock of possibly the best NFL safety prospect in recent memory while he was there.

Huh?

He put together a #49 total D at MSU -- with a defense that had 9 or 10 NFL players. I though his defense was very good at the time. Given hindsight, it underperformed in a huge way relative to the talent we had. That should have been a consensus top 10 defense nationally.

Praying he don't come after Geoff because he would leave bc we won't pay him what Georgia will. Im hearing 800k is what they are gonna offer and you can bet Collins is on the list... but there are some others they will be going after too. Look for Sunseri to be on the list as well.

If Sal Sunseri's name is coming up -- you can bet your ass it's as a position coach at best. Teams like Georgia don't hire guys that put together the worst defense in the history of a school. That team dropped 83 spots in total D in his one year in charge. It improved 26 spots this year. That's a clear trend.

Draft projections before the season started- after they were coached by Sunseri: (comes from a list of College football's top 150 players)

McCullers at DT and Johnson at LB differ...they had some players

Agreed. Richt would be helping himself out the door to hire Sunseri as DC.
