I heard that Franklin's buyout is that any new facilities built under him have to be paid for. So PSU has to pay 30+ mill on top of Franklin's salary. Holy shit!! Is this true?

If true they are ****ing morons. No coach is worth that.

There is no way that is true.

Here is an article from Fansided. I agree that 30 million just to get a coach is insane but if it's true we may know why USC and Texas didn't get him.

If true, Franklin should have fired his agent yesterday. That's an absolutely inexplicable contract.

Yeah. That would be a bone head ass move by Franklin to agree to that. That would have basically guaranteed that he wouldn't get any looks from any other program for the HC spot. Damn, that's prohibitive.

I refuse to believe that. No 17'n way.

Kills me that this clown is getting paid more than Mullen. This guy played the easiest schedule in the SEC.

PAY MULLEN & COLLINS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pay Collins now!!!!!! Mullen makes enough for the moment. Get me to ten wins, and we'll talk.

Mullen makes top 25 money..(23rd highest paid coach in 2013) but we are not a top 25 team right now so no, he doesn't need a raise. you don't get raises for going 7-6 . Win 9+ games next year and then bump him up to 3mil but for now bump Collins up to 500mil+ and give some of our other assistants a raise and see what happens next year.

Oh, and I am also willing to bet the Franklin/facilities buyout is BS. Who the hell would do that?

Unfortunately our total staff pay is not close to top 25. Got to get that corrected. Time to write some checks to the Bulldog Club if you haven't lately.

The media (you know people like Matt Stevens) say we aren't a top 25 team because they lack the ability to see anything past our record, which is negatively skewed due to outrageous schedules. I reality, we are probably one of the 20 best teams in the country.

On the flip side- Mullen is now 13th in the SEC- and his results have been much better than 13th...

I dont think Mullen's salary is pertinent this year though- and to be honest, neither does Mullen. We should commit some resources to the assistants forthe upcoming year. Mullen will earn his raise in 2014 with an 8-9-10 win season

Good point... Agree with everything stated here.

Seems to me it'd be beneficial for MSU to start a law program and seriously improve it's media and journalism degrees. We are getting ass raped every day in these two areas throughout the state and I'm sick of hearing about it daily.

Clay Travis has debunked the idea that Franklin/PSU is on the hook for Vandy's facilities. Completely and totally false.

Unfortunately, this isn't up to MSU. This would up to the IHL, and with all the needed educational consolidation in MS, I doubt IHL wants to create replica programs at another in-state school. The state of MS already has way more lawyers than needed anyway.

Yeah, that didn't pass the smell test. He would have to have the worst agent in the history of agents to agree to a clause like that.
