I don't know what the deal is or even if there is a possibility that it happens, but as of today Milton had not decided to transfer.

Yep. Just spoke with him through twitter. Said he is not transferring and doesn't know where that came from. We might need to take that other thread down.

I hope we can keep him. He's a good running back-just needs to hold on to the ball.

If we got to the national championship game, who would our celebrity captain be? I'm saying Dontae Walker, all 500 pounds. That would be awesome.

The key is Auburn's offense is the amount of formations they run and how quickly they snap the football.

If you watch, they huddle right on the ball, turn around, and snap it. The defense has very little time to even line up correctly and register what formation Auburn is in.

MarketingBully01
01-06-2014, 09:08 PM
Apparently illegal lineman downfield doesn't pertain to Auburn ever. That OL that made the key block made it 10 yards downfield. Complete bullshit.

MarketingBully01
01-06-2014, 09:15 PM
Illegal formations, holds, linemen downfield. If you called everything you are supposed to call, Malzhan's offense wouldn't do shit. I guess their goal is hey if we do it every play no way you call it. Shit, this officiating crew is just swallowing their whistle.

MetEdDawg
01-06-2014, 09:16 PM
The difference in talent here is pretty obvious. Auburn is clearly the better team, but can they play consistent football without mistakes? If they do, they could win by 14 or more. This is an average SEC defense too and they look like world beaters against FSU.

I will agree with the lack of holding calls though. Them and Bama hold quite a bit and never get called for it.

A bit of interference on that one after watching the replay.

On a screen pass lineman can be downfield.as long as the pass is behind the line

Auburn's been setting this gameplan up for two months. They've run the shit out of the ball during that time with very few play action looks. FSU is getting an entirely different gameplan than they saw in the last 4 or 5 games Auburn played and Auburn is exploiting that. More passing, more play action, and really mixing it up well. Auburn is the only one that can stop Auburn tonight.

Malzhan said his whole offense is based on a book he read about the Delaware wing-t offense. Some coach named Harold "Tubby" Raymond.
Whatever it is he sure is creative with it.

I guess you are responding to me. As long as the pass doesn't cross the line of scrimmage , linemen can be down field.

Special Teams.

Good things happened to Auburn after their great punt, but they did leave points on the field by missing a field goal.
FSU's only TD was after a well-executed fake punt that essentially gave them an extra possession.

This should be even more reason for us to dramatically improve ours next season.

It just makes too much sense to hire a dedicated special teams coach. Every NFL team has one and it's more important than having a TE coach. Even better if the guy is also a great recruiter.

Yes, and I think that is a big reason why Dan has failed to get the "signature win" thus far.

I know that Dan is the special teams coach, but I'm pretty sure he lets a graduate assistant handle special teams because every time we screw up, he is chewing out some grad assistant who is unlisted on the MSU web site. I give him an F whoever he is.

True. Sherrill had his moments. But so did Joe Lee Dunn as a DC. For some reason football coaches seem to "lose it" after awhile. That would be one of my concerns with Sherrill.

I think the point of Mullen being the ST coach is that you can't just go out and hire a special teams coach even if you have the money. You can only have 9 assistants and we have 9.

Now, I would argue that Sallach is expendable and we could hire a ST coach in his place and put the tight end duties on somebody else, but it's not a cut and dried as just hiring a new guy.

FSU's DL was a hell of a lot better than I expected. I expected there would be no way FSU would slow down the Gus Bus, but they damn sure did. I thought Auburn's running game would dominate, but it didn't. FSU played the run really well, forcing Auburn to pass more than they like.
