per Bonner:

"Ray also has not talked with wide receiver De?Runnya Wilson about playing basketball.

Wilson, a freshman, earned Mr. Basketball honors in Alabama last year. He came to Starkville with the notion of playing both football and basketball. As the football season progressed, Ray and football coach Dan Mullen avoided talking about the likelihood of Wilson?s plan"

Fine with me. Football is more important to our university as a whole compared to basketball.

It should be De' Runnya's choice after he talks to both coaches. Promises should be kept

A wise decision to focus on football for a variety of reasons. However, Wilson and the staffs need to talk this out so there is no unnecessary tension.

Are we sure Wilson wanted to play basketball at one point or was it just assumed? I never read his interviews....

if he can help the team and not miss any football, do it. If Matt Jones could do it and play QB for a couple of years, surely we could manage a WR doing it.

You and the anti-Ray posters are the worst. Just stay out of these threads please.

I don't know what Wilson wants to do. If the coaches are ok with it fine. But something that needs to be addressed to Wilson is the academic load he has to carry in the spring after fall football. Most FB. Players take a lighter load of classes in fall and play catchup in the spring and summer because of practice and film sessions/workouts. That would be my number one concern for him. As a frosh it could be a bit overwhelming. It was for me.
