Surprised there hasn't been more talk on him being 6'7.5" and tippin the scales at 300. I hope he can play at 285-290( that's a huge frame), can still run and play de. However, I fear his future is at tackle. He gained nearly 40 lbs since his visit. Wow

I thought the same thing. When you get above 280, that is pretty dang big to be a defensive end. Regardless, if he is capable of disrupting the opposing offense, they will find a spot along the line. You can play a 4-3, a 3-4, move guys from end to tackle, slide people around to take advantage of matchups or down and distance. I think he comes along slowly this year as a backup, and we see the full force of who he is in 2014.

I thought he was more like 6'-5" and around 260 ... the recent pics I saw during cruitin season showed him with a lean muscular type build ... has he ballooned in 3 months ?

Chris will stay at DE. They will have him in great shape by September. Plus, you dont want a 6'7 DT- they cant stay low enough and will get driven back

Where did you see that he was 300 lbs? I saw someone post that on SPS the other day, but they never confirmed where they saw that.

Either way, I doubt he is really that heavy that quick. Plus, I have no worries because he will be a DE and the coaches will make sure he is at a DE playing weight come the fall.

The intensity of Chris' summer workouts will drop some of that weight off of him

He'll be fine. If true, he'll burn most of that off by September.

Although, I find it hard to believe that a young athlete coming off a basketball season (All Daily Journal Honorable Mention, I believe) would pack on that much in such a short time-frame.

We weighed him and measured him. It's accurate.

A scale said 300. Jones does not weigh 300 lbs. I've seen him up close and he looks fine. No bad weight gain.

He will be fine. Jones will be one of the best to ever wear maroon

He's just a big kid. I don't think it's bad weight. Julius Peppers plays at 6'7" 285ish. It can be done. It can especially be done if Chris keeps his speed and explosiveness.

Exactly. His game from what I saw was speed. If he keeps that speed, I don't care what he weighs. Weight may help his bull rush. One recruit I'm not worried about is Chris jones

Honestly it doesn't matter RIGHT NOW. I have said this before to other Sate fans, he will barely play this year anyways unless someone gets hurt. AJ, Torrey Dale, Ryan Brown, Preston Smith the Autry are ALL IN FRONT OF HIM. Plus those guys have either had valuable playing time or have gone through a RS yr. I heard he gainer weight but goodness gracious that's alot.
