As I stated before, we need to dominate the boards and make sure they don't get any wide-open shots. If we can do that, I think we can win it. Oh...and no mental mistakes like we had last night.

This would be our 2nd best RPI win up to this point (UNLV is at 125) with Jackson State the best (116). Obviously it's early for RPI and obviously this will change, but it would still be a good win. We've had an insanely easy SOS up to this point (304), but our RPI is 134, which isn't that bad. Need Ware to have a big night on the boards.

A win against UNLV in Las Vegas would start to give me some hope that we could get to 18 or maybe even 19 wins. A win today would put us at 10 with Maryland Eastern Shore giving us 11. With this SEC being so weak, I think the potential is there for us to get 8 conference wins. That might be reaching, but I think outside of UK, Mizzou, and Florida, we can beat any team in the conference.

I realize he went off last night, but he's still their 8th leading scorer. Their beast bringing in 13 boards a game worries me, considering our lack of depth in the post.

I'm guessing you are talking about roscoe smith, transfer from UCONN and by far best player. But yes we should be worried about them getting in transition and hitting the boards more than deville.

Yea well I said before the FGCU game we could easily win that one. They were like 5-5. Just the fact that the team we beat last night is also beating the team UNLV beat makes me think we can compete. Still think tonight is an up hill battle for sure.

The mid-major vs major conference gap is essentially gone in college basketball. The last 5 years have seen decent majors win games vs the BCS schools time and again. Those types of losses are nowhere near the stigma they were 10 years ago. It's a new age in college basketball for the majority of schools. The upper tier guys will always be that regardless

A win tonight would be HUGE! UNLV is definitly better than their 125 RPI suggests. Their record doesn't look good, but their losses came against 4 good teams (Arizona, Arizona St., Illinois, and UC Santa Barbara). Another win tonight could mean big things for this season...
That said, we'll have to play flawlessly to beat them, unless we're a far better team than I thought.

They are going to need to keep the same weak schedule and pick up some strong pieces to get there. The guys on the court tonight couldn't play with any MSU team I've ever watched. They are certainly better coached, but not very good basketball players. I would love to see what Ray could do with one of our better Stans teams.

I'm not debating this game. But we are playing a team in their home city that would likely finish 3rd-4th in the SEC.

I just see this team as one that is extremely young and no post players after Ware. They are working hard and getting better- but it's a process. Next year, we'll be a year older and actually have some depth in the post.

I think we've got a great core, but we've got to add some playmakers and another big at minimum to have a legit chance at winning in the SEC. It won't be this weak next year.

We need some scoters and guys who can defend on the perimeter... a la Zimmerman and Bowers.

UNLV is shooting lights out, but we're giving them wide open looks. they run out of the same set damn near every play. We should be able to stay with them. They shot us out of the 1-3-1 and we still can guard them in man up. We've got a lot of work to do to hang with decent teams... not good teams... decent teams.

I'm pulling for Ray but this is the part that really worries me. We don't have any true scorers, much less shooters, and we don't seem to be bringing any in next year. Dunlap is an undersized, spot up shooter but he'll have problems creating his own shot at the next level. Houston is more of a rangy athlete and is pretty raw. We need scorers in the worst way.

Im in sure that's through the year for 2006 and this team has had a very easy start to the year. These guys can't find the bucket when they are alone under it.

In a addition, Ray's defense with those players would be even better than what we are seeing.

We need 2-3 really good players to join these guys that are barely pieces. Just a post guy that can make a 4 footer would make a huge difference. I would take a shooter to accompany him.

It makes no sense. Every team in the country has a couple of guys that can knock down shots. I would take the 2 guard from Belmont in a heartbeat. We go out and sign a project post player who transferred to IMG. A Craig Sword clone in D. Houston. And then Dunlap who has a ton of questions surrounding his ability to play at this level especially as a 6'0 two guard. What is Ray thinking?

Sword has a little bit of jamont in him, not as good of a passer or ball handler but by far our best weapon. Gavin isn't nearly as skilled as Rhodes was but he also has a different body type which could make him as effective. Other than that I don't see how we are gonna get the talent around them to be able to fully utilize those skill sets.

With that rule you can essentially get as close as you want as a defender into the personal space of the offensive player, who cant make an offensive move, and at that point you more than likely will draw the elbow.
