Before Stans left some of us cough cough said his replacement wouldn't be any worse even if the recruiting dropped.

While I enjoyed last night -- and feel good about our direction in general -- I think it's still too early to say this.

Stansbury's overall accomplishments here will be difficult to surpass. I was past ready to go another a direction when we finally did -- but I can also acknowledge what he did for us overall in hindsight.

I think this season is alot like 2006 was for Stands- young team that was rebuilding. That team went 15-15 playing an extremely weak schedule. 2007 went to the NIT, 2008 made the NCAA's.

We'll see what Ray can do. This year we should get 16-17-18 wins- then next year should certainly be NIT-capable. Yeah 4 when Ware, Sword, and FTF are Seniors...Ready and Applewhite will be a Jr's. The surrounding cast at that point will be key.

2001-02 - 2004-05 was a very fun 4 year stretch.

Coach, you will long for the years we had under Stans. Not saying he was perfect, but there has never been an easier pre conference schedule at MSU than we have had this year. It is all about competing in the SEC. Most of us will be patient for another year but if we don't get to .500 in the league by year three, which you vehemently said we would, then expect feedback.

other than that 4 year span from 02-05- no, no I wont.

I agree that we need to be AT LEAST a .500 SEC team by the end of next season.

That team had, Jamont Gordon, Rhodes, a knock down three point shooter and under rated defender in Barry Stewart and Riley Benock, the ncaa all time leading shot blocker, and not to mention Ravern Johnson, Kodi Augustus and Phil Turner. These 3 guys might have been head aches at times but all good athletes and players. We just beat a south fl team without it's starting pg, not to downplay the win bc any win against a top conference is good for this team but lets calm down on the projections right now.

So then if we're .500 at the end of the year overall, Ray is a better coach than Stans?

Interesting stat: We are leading the SEC and are 8th nationally averaging 9.9 Steals per game.

Absolutely. Ray can do as much as Stan's did the last several years with a lot less talent.

I'm damn excited and proud that this team has made it to 9-2, an outstanding accomplishment. I am hopeful that we can hold our own throughout the season. We'll see, but terrific start.

By the way, does anybody have a directv channel for tonight?
