Word from big bird is that we have a secret commit and everybody is wondering who it is.. I have a pretty strong feeling but was wanting to know who everyone else thinks it might be??

Somebody brought this up a couple weeks ago, I hope it's legit. We could use some excitement going into the summer, assuming it's announced by then.

I assume it couldn't be any of the local guys, because that wouldn't make AS much of a splash.

If it's a really good player, I'd rather it stay a secret til Feb. otherwise we'll be tracking his night trips to Oxford for the next 9 months

If what I've being told is true then it'll become known pretty soon

Can you at least give us the position he plays? I'm assuming it's a he.

Green IMO is almost a lock.. Wouldn't be much of a surprise there.. But he's a great looking LB especially at 6'5 reminds you of McKinney type body just tall and long

Yeah, I hope we get him. He's one of those that's expected to make his name better known in camps this summer. There's a similar sized LB from Georgia named Chubb, I think, that we're in good with right now.

We've actually got 4-5 secret commits right now. We are waiting for Summer as we normally do for them to announce

Thought Chubb was a RB

Chubb is a outside linebacker.. But like coach said we really have about 4-5 so called "secret commits" and I think everyone has a pretty good feeling on who one of them is.

Oh. Scout has him as a RB prospect. Doesn't even show defensive stats.

Either way, he looks like a great athlete.

Heard rumors of a big offensive lineman "secret commit" too (it's not Rod Taylor), hopefully these turn out to be true. I expect recruiting to be quite for a while since we have limited spots and like people have pointed out, Mullen likes to make his move during camps in the summer.

Nick Chubb is the guy your looking at.. Bradley Chubb is the OLB I'm referring to. Here you go

I hope this is true. We need some big ugly's.

I personally wish we would keep all of our commits "secret" for as long as possible. That way the vultures don't rush in.

How do you recruitniks feel our star rating could be this year? All I've been hearing is that we will have a low number of signees, but a high star rating likely. What you think? Is that accurate?

With a last name like that they HAVE to be lol. Maybe we have to get one in order to get the other but I haven't heard of any relation between the two

In this class I think we are gonna sign around the low 20 range maybe 21 or 22.. But we have alot of 4* rated players leaning to us right now and alot of 3* players who when evaluated again will probably move up to 4* so I see us with a pretty high rates class to sign so little. Also somebody to keep your eye on is Cory Thomas in Alabama. He's only a 2* as of right now but I have a feeling mid way through his senior season I see him as earning a high 3*.

hailmari

Most have been saying we can only sign maybe 15 due to the small senior class. I hope your count is more like it, though. We could have more 4* guys in this one class than ever either way. There is a lot of near-by talent in this class. Hopefully we can snag some of the New Orleans kids; they're spitting them out down there.

I was saying that 8 of 8 analysts pick Chubb to UGA -- then I opened the second page and saw where you had already explained it...

yeah no doubt. some forced attrition will occur over the next few months. we will always find a way to get our numbers right so we can go after the players we need.

Who would leave, though?

Should be any number in the rising rsSO and rsJR classes that have been/are being surpassed in their positions by the rising rsFR...

The numbers always work out. Also, we need to remember that scholarships are a one year deal. Dan could pull someone's scholarship that is not pulling their weight and give that player an option of staying as a walk-on or transferring out.

This^^^^^. There has got to be a few upperclassmen that at this point are nothing more than tackling dummies and roster fillers that probably need to be given the transfer option. In the environment that is SEC football you cannot afford to miss out on some new prospects that could help your team down the road to be loyal to someone who quite frankly never panned out or isn't pulling their weight. May seem harsh to some, but that is the nature of the beast.
