That may help

I don't mind it with the bases empty. But if there are runners on base- get in a traditional set-up so you can move to block balls and throw out runners more easily.

With ABS in MLB I wouldn't be surprised if it dies out because the whole purpose of it is to frame pitches and "steal strikes" from umpires like Jason Bradley and CB Bucknor.

Agree 1000%! You simply CANNOT take that stance with runners on base. Not being laterally quick enough behind the plate (where the 1 leg out really slows you down) may have cost us the game last night

Catchers have cost 4 of the 5 games we've lost. **** whoever on our staff came up with this philosophy.

What was going on with Milewski last night? I saw him miss 2 balls, I got disgusted and turned it off, came back and what’s his name was in there letting balls get by him. Was Milewski hurt or did he just get pulled? I thought we were past the crappy defense with Milewski in there.

They catch the way they are coached to catch

It?s just coached everywhere I guess. Seems more important to me to keep runners in check, keep the double play available, keep them out of scoring position, and for damn sure, with a man on 3rd, keep him from scoring than to steal a few strikes here and there. You better have a hose like Lo Tan to play on a knee with guys on, but I still wouldn?t give up the blocking mobility. I will say the GA catcher was really working the low balls for his pitcher. Ump just sucks to not see him framing it so much.

Being able to throw a runner out at second would help also.

We can't even seem to get a throw off half the time.

screw the knee. I want a catcher who frames and moves the mitt like georgia's catcher.

Buck Showalter agrees.

I watched every baseball highlight tonight and every catcher was using the one knee approach. It's been taught for years. Now losing sight of the ball or the old fashioned me look the ball all the way into the glove not being used might have a little more to do with the passed balls
