Here is where we lost it. But

Looking at the 9th as it unfolded, I can?t decide if the inning was hurt worse by Woodson watching the 0-1 change up right down the middle, or Chance fouling out on a 1-1 count.

In the 8th and 9th inning, batters 1-3 went 0-4 against Aoki.
Against the starter, batters 1-4 went 1 for 4 first time.
Against Byrd, batters 1-3 went 0-3 the first time they faced him.
In case you are wondering if that is a pattern, it is against SEC pitching. Those first 3 guys have to see a pitcher at least one time before they can time him up.

Now that might be common across college baseball. I don?t know. But it certainly seems to happen to the top of our order fairly regularly. I had to go back and look at Arkansas and Ole Miss. I think they had some success against Vandy early in games 2 & 3.

Chone James, Bevis, and Wyers are better hitters than some dudes that start, especially in clutch situations. Teel versus Right meh and Teel versus Left meh. In the SEC, MSU has 220, 250, and 230 hitters in the first 4. Plus they are slow-footed and pull-crazy.
