STARKVILLE ? Mississippi State baseball is still evaluating injured starting pitcher Ryan McPherson, coach Brian O'Connor said.

"Nothing has changed since Friday," O'Connor said after No. 6 MSU run-ruled Vanderbilt 17-7 on March 22. "He's continuing to be evaluated. He had an MRI today, so we'll find out what the results of that are. Sometimes you do those just to be precautionary. We'll know more in the coming days about what the situation is."

McPherson left his March 20 start against the Commodores in the fifth inning after throwing one warmup pitch. He did not slip on the pitch or grab any specific part of his body after throwing the pitch. The Bulldogs haven't said what McPherson's exact injury is.

So the Bottom Line is regardless of who says what Nobody knows yet!

No idea how state baseball news correlates with Braves' news, but quick reports are good and delays are bad.

?The sooner you know the bad news, the sooner you can make other plans for October? is the Braves Motto

I would think they/he would know if it was the elbow. The overwhelming talk is forearm strain 4-6 weeks. We knew about Kirk within 3-4 days so the fact nothing has ruled out Mac I like our chances

This information is from his press conference yesterday. I feel pretty confident that the MSU media will ask about McPherson after the USM game.

I strained my forearm lifting, it was painful took several weeks to recover. I'm almost 60 though, he'll recover much faster; hopefully closer to the 3 week timeframe.

Hearing from more than one place that he has muscle strains in the forearm, 4 to 6 weeks recovery. I'm hearing this from more that one person and they are well informed.

If it's 6 weeks, he's basically done this season, right? That's a return to throwing beginning of may; he would need what 2-3 weeks to ramp?

ETA... hopefully that time line is throwing at full strength, and he starts throwing before that. If it's 6 weeks, I'd shut him down

get his arm in a bucket of rice...

almost all the indicators were there friday in about the 3rd inning for it to be a ucl issue. hopefully it truly is just a strain.

We lose him for 4 starts is how I'm feeling on this. Not sure how long he will be shut down, depending on how quickly he responds to therapy will determine how fast he can get back to pen work.

Yeah this is pretty much confirmed now. Basically the same injury Nate Dohm had for us a couple years ago. Mac will most likely feel fine in 2 weeks with all the PRP crap and electric stem they do now. Its how we handle Weeks 3 and 4 with him that will be crucial in him being ready in about 5 weeks to fully compete again

Seems like he should be full go by A&M and ready for the postseason.

Usually it's the whole process taking 4-6 weeks. He'll be throwing some bullpens and things like that towards the end when he is ready from a medical standpoint. And then we'll ramp him up from there.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back way sooner than Dohm.

If thats the case, great news for us. He gets back with a fresh arm for the stretch

I think Cade Smith went thru a bit of this for us as well. He was only out a few weeks and then pitched very well upon his return. Dohm pitched pretty well after returning also- we just made sure to limit his pitches

Off topic, but are blisters not a problem anymore? I seem to remember that a finger blister could take a pitcher out for a couple of weeks years ago but I don't recall hearing that problem lately.
