Watching NCAAT to find a rising star from these small school teams. Go get Okojie from Howard.
There are some really good players you might could grab up.

Wonder if other schools are doing this also???? With their bigger staff operations than what we have?

Find two underclass men on a team like Utah State that shoot threes at 40%, and pay them to do it here.

As good as that sounds, guys who were good players at other schools that come to State under Jans just never pan out. What transfer has come to us and gotten better?

Jeffries, brooks, Moore, Davis, kugel, Melendez, Harris, and nwoko are all transfers that have improved the team.

If we have Kugel/Murphy/Nwoko this year we are a Top 6 seed. But Kugel is a flake- Murphy eyed the bigtime with Auburn, and Nwoko wanted a bigger bag. This is NIL ball. Look at Memphis- Penny had his team explode this year also. Auburn didnt live up to expectations and people are blaming little Pearl but he didnt miss all those shots. Kentucky/Pope spent 20MM to be 9th in the SEC. Mississippi greatly underachieved.
This is college basketball now

Yep, you just made the point I've been saying all along. Just spending more money gets you nothing. You got to invest wisely. Iowa St this year. Indiana in football. A ton of teams spend lot of money and get nothing for it. We can't be that school and we shouldn't be.
Spend money but invest wisely and we can win.

This whole thread is why Mullen would be good to get back for next coach.
It is not SIMPLY having money. You have to evaluate talent well.
Mullen was great at that. He may not be a great "recruiter", but that is less important now, since we just pay them. Picking the right ones is now MORE important.

Come on msstate7, I said what transfer has come in and gotten better under Jans. We havent had 1 impact transfer, those guys you mentioned played solid but definitely didnt improve.

I completely agree with this post and Ive said the same. Yes having money helps but it has to be invested properly and recruiting still really matters.

Nwoko 100% improved in his time at State

We havent had 1 impact transfer,
Melendez and Kugel were impact transfers. They played pretty well and we were an 8 seed that should have won a game or two.
I mean- we arent going to get someone that comes in and scores 17 and 10 a night. Not sure what u mean by "impact"

This is a crazy thought I know, but I look at team improvement over individual improvement. I couldn't care less if Joe blow was better at wherever the year before if the team improved bc of his addition. And when Hubbard is taking practically all the shots, it will be hard for guys to score more here than previous stops.

Jans is not going to bring in anyone of value next year. Every player knows this is Hubs team and everything is going to run through him, an undersized guard that cant play defense. Which means no dance, and no fun. No one is signing up for that

Melendez was solid but not impactful, he played about the same for us as he did for Georgia. He was solid. Kugel absolutely was not impactful.. he hated playing for Jans and you could tell by his body language every game. He was taken in and out of the rotation often and never felt comfortable. He averaged 9 ppg for us and is averaging over 14 pog for UCF, a team that is currently playing in the tournament.
When I say impactful I mean guys like Hubbard, Matthews, Tolu, Woodard, Perry etc. Jans has not brought anyone in like that other than getting Hubbard away from Ole Miss. Im not impressed with Jans offensive coaching nor his player development.

Jans literally brought in Hubbard and he's retained in him in an atmosphere that isn't easy to keep guys
