Is leaving for Maryland. Now we're looking for a WR and safeties coach. Good thing is it's only March.**

And then when someone did, he bolted to a program just as terrible as us

well he is going to be a coordinator and likely a pay raise

Well that makes me feel better. When I asked and no one responded, I assumed lateral

He was a position coach with us. Coordinating ST is a promotion IMO.

This football program is a CLOWN SHOW, and that's all there is to it. Anybody investing in it right now is setting themselves for more misery.

Is it? Coordinating an offense or defense, definitely, but I'm not sure how a position coach being relegated to special teams coach is a "promotion"???

Most schools pay their ST coordinator more than a safeties coach. SEC ST coordinators make between 600K and 1MM

How much did Odom and Barnes make last year?

We've been preparing for Matt not to come back. He took a demotion and was looking to move. We've been interviewing people for a few weeks. Just like with Hamden. We'll have someone by Spring.

Really Clark?

Barnes made $600K with us last year.

Odom made $400K but had a bonus structure that could pay him an additional $132K. However, we were able to get him cheaper than some others, he was only making $120,000 at New Mexico.

I’ll be surprised if Barnes makes less than $600K at Maryland

Seriously, I'm expecting us to beg Dan Mullen to come back like the bitches we are.

That's our football program in a nutshell. We have a coach that is relying on the guy that is partially responsible for this mess to get us out of this mess at DC. Which sounds insane until you realize that our head coach hired the guy he replaced to fix this.

Then after we fire Lebby we'll talk about how we need a "proven coach" get no one and then beg Dan to come back, overpay him probably "because he has proven he can win here" without looking at any context while the podcasters celebrate Bumphis coming back and "Well, we wanted a proven coach and we got one."

This is going to be like the football version of Polk 2 except it ends with Dan leaving us for UConn or Maryland.

You still are operating under the guise that we're getting back HC Zach Arnett. We're not. We're getting back defensive coordinator Zach Arnett. He knows his place, and more importantly, the boosters who propped him up know their place. This isn't remotely in the same galaxy of them forcing this hire. Also for like the 78th time, DAN MULLEN ISN'T COMING BACK. Unless he has a massive change of heart or Starkville magically gets an athletics program powerhouse in the next 9 months, he's staying at UNLV. Cannon is at Bishop Gorman and he wants to keep him there. He's also not splitting up his family.

The legend of Dan Mullen grows by the day. He is 7 feet tall and shoots fireballs out his arse.

Mullen got us back to average if not a slight tick above which after Croom looked like a miracle. No, Dan?s a good coach and that?s what good coaches do. There are other good coaches that would give their left nut for a job like ours. I?m not throwing the towel in on the one have just yet but if it happens we need a real coaching search with a solid commitment to NIL.

Dan despised recruiting. I wonder how he operates in the NIL era where you can just buy what you need vs sell your program. But no, don't want Mullen back.

That too but Megan got over that after like Year 2. She just sent someone out to do all her shopping.

Older Dawg here, but these types of hires give me flashbacks of Jackie's hires for his last staff after the wheels had fallen off in so many ways. The majority of his assistants were ex-HC's, who were trying to get in another year on their retirement plans, and the year was a big failure. There was little energy, and there is a reason these types of guys are available as assistants late in their careers. Hope this works and Barnes was not just "a rat leaving a sinking ship".

Jackie?s last season was a failure bc Ron Cooper couldn?t coordinate a beer run let alone a defense. That defense was wet toilet tissue. Watson Brown?s offense was doing enough with Kevin Fant to win games but the defense was total ass. Sound familiar? We have solved that with Arnett. We keep the same offensive output but majorly up the defensive side and we will win some games.

I think the only ex head coaches on staff are Montgomery and Arnett. I'm referring to on the field because we have some analysts like Rhoads who was a head coach.

That defense made a pretty good year by Fant completely forgotten.

Dan isn't coming back unless he has a massive change of heart. Also, all the Mullen homers seem to think we'd be getting back 2009 Dan Mullen. You're not. You're getting whatever version of Dan the UNLV version currently is. He's really good when he's at an NIL advantage. How would he be in the new era when he would have the 12th AT BEST NIL budget in his own conference.

They're also overlooking the fact that we have a P5 game and an extra SEC game to play that we didn't have to play for most of Dan's tenure.
