I mean you can run the men's Olympic sports and it's going to be about the same. Olympic Sports and Women's Basketball are not, and never will be, money makers. PERIOD. Everyone points to Tennessee and UCONN basketball back in the day and fail to mention that they had A LOT of private donor money funding their travel and they traveled very bare bones, bussed to most places.
Nowadays, every sports team is flown anywhere over 2 hours. That's a MASSIVE cost. Especially when you have to send the golf team, men or womens, to Cabo for 4 days

Bama Men and women golf team each lost about $1.3 Mil. Bama also just spent $30-40 Mil on a new golf facility. Make it make sense.

I'm really familiar with the facility they built, it's well north of the numbers you have here, but that whole thing was done with private money. It's crazy what they put into that.

Texas Tech AD laid out their plan. Its a good blueprint for us to follow. They could fund 105 football scholarships but they choose to only fund 85. They are also moving 1 million of rev share from non rev sports to football. Also, directing contracted money from Learfield and Adidas from the university to NIL deals.
I fully realize we dont have their donor base but the above athletic department decisions have nothing to do with that.

If we would just go back to the "old" ways of doing things the costs would drop dramatically. What I mean by this is play local/regional/conference opponents during the regular season instead of flying cross country every other week, those within a 5 or 6 hour drive, and only fly to remote locations during post season tournaments.
For the most part, that was the way it was - costs were a lot cheaper - even accounting for inflation!
