We are looking great right now. I do think we have more to come. Still think we need 1 more OL at tackle. We have the rest filled. I think we could use another edge. I feel we got some talent there, but I want a little more experience.

Great day and so far one hell of and over all portal haul.

Refreshing to see a positive post for once. Site has been so doom and gloom lately.

Great portal class!

It?s an interesting strategy. Looks like we are trying to set up a run in 2027. A lot of young, talented, unproven players. I dont hate the strategy but we might not see big improvement next season. And you have to retain the ones that pan out. But it?s usually easier to retain than acquire.

I do see immediate help on the defensive side. I wish we had overpaid the kid from Tulane. Edge guys are just so valuable.

I was talking about that yesterday with a friend. We did bring in some experience and older players that will help now. But I see a massive breakout for 2027 with all the younger talent aging while adding a few portal hauls.

I disagree. We will win 7 games next year IF KT is actually good

And if Lebby play calls to set KT up for success.

Can?t really make predictions right now except on blind optimism. No clue about our Oline right now.

The only thing I see lacking on the OL is. LT.

I mean sure, but if the Oline is worse Lebby is getting fired. Let’s assume it’s even marginally better with an improved D, we should win 7

Agreed man. I like the strategy.. we just got to retain them. 2027 could go either way. If KT develops and our O Line is respectable, I could see 7+ wins. I can also see another year like this year if he doesn't develop and our O Line sucks. I think we will get 6 or 7 wins tho. It's time.

I think it's 2027 and beyond. We're building around KT and that is the right thing to do. We'll have him probably at least for 2028 and depending on how the NCAA rules change- maybe even 2029. And yes, there is always the possibility he goes pro. Impossible to predict the future with eligibility and what the NCAA is going to do and whether or not they will grandfather players in to the rules or not.

I know that the talk right now is 9 games and still redshirt which is even more ridiculous than the current rule. At that point they might as well go ahead and make it five to play five and I don't know why there would even be any push against it from anyone.

And of course KT played in 10 regular season games this year.

With the disaster of an o-line we had last year we still managed to score 30 PPG. And we managed to win 5 games with the said disaster of an o-line and a defense that was pretty close to as bad statistically as the 2024 defense.

If we got no one else out of the portal going forward and just went with what we have we improved both units talent wise. Then factor in a more manageable schedule and I think we will be fine. Especially since we have two and a half more weeks to add players and fill in the remaining gaps on the team.

I fully expect us at a minimum to get a LT, a guard, an EDGE or two preferably and at least one more TE.

Post the starting 11.

If we lined up today they would introduce on the Jumbotron:

QB- KT
RB- Fluff
WR- Ayden Williams
Slot- Anthony Evans
WR- Marquis Johnson, maybe SanFrisco?
TE- Kyle Williams or Sam West

LT- Probably a transfer but as of today probably Jayvin James unless Tyler Miller or Matthews beats him out.
LG- Chester if Canon Boone gets a waiver but let's assume Boone doesn't we probably go with Owens again.
C- Chester or Boone. Prudhoome might get a long look too if Boone isn't eligible and we don't get another guard in the portal.
RG- If it was today I could see us rolling with Mario Nash, TJ Lockhart maybe or one of the JUCO's like Saquon Miles. But I think when things shake out with the portal it will probably be James or Owens here.
RT- Steen

So the only guys that I feel have an obvious starting spot on the line are Steen, Chester, and maybe Jayvin James who we will hopefully be able to put in a spot that fits him better. That's assuming Boone isn't eligible. Either way what it comes down to is we need a LT and another guard.

The only thing I disagree with is I expect Prudhoome starting at guard.

With a top #60 defense we would have won two maybe three more games this season even with ? lackluster OL. Just a bump up in OL production with a much improved defense and we can win 7 games with a shot at 8 depending on player health and experience as the season progresses.

Wow....so does that get us to 6 wins? I seriously doubt it. We'll most likely have a new coach going into 2027 .....not a popular take I'm sure but much closer to reality...

nothing is guaranteed especially since all opponents are supposedly improving their teams as well.

This is absolutely true in the portal era. Someone could have sucked this year and be a possible playoff team next year.

Goodness gracious it is hard to get our fan base to be excited about anything. "Great day!!" followed by countless points of doom and gloom. We do not need a new coach, we need new fans.

That is true. I am not sure the next time we will have UF, TN, and TX on the ropes. But maybe that will be LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss next year. Let's get it.

Since the passing of Leach, our fanbase has been in "show me" mode. Really since the day Arnett fired the offensive staff we have been in show me mode.
Good will is earned, not simply from getting new players. We want to see sacks, interceptions, long RB runs, and efficient passing with deep shot TDs. More or less, we want to see what Indiana did this year.

I get that, but we had a lot of that this year and over achieved by most standards. I do not get the expectations during a full rebuild. I know that hiring Arnett was a mistake but we were much improved this year and are doing some good things in the portal. Lebby finally made a move at DC and Arnett is a good DC regardless of what people think of him as a head coach... A little positivity should go a long way, but our fan base shoots it down as soon as they see it.
