Starting with the Backfield:
CBs:
Transfer in:
Jamroc Grimsley 6'3" 200lbs rated 4 star. No real PT.. does have a PD and tackle.
Quentin Taylor Jr 6'0 and 205lbs. Played all season. He's good in the run game and will absolutely lay the wood. 27 tackles and 5 PD. You can actually watch highlights of him on youtube. I will link in posts below.
Kaylib Singleton 6'1" 190lbs True freshman who saw the field. Not alot. I suspect a back up will be his roll.
Returning:
Kelly Jones. So 4 star
Jett Johnson Jr
Kyle Johnson Freshman 4 star
Our CB room, on paper is already better.
S
Transfer In:
Marcus Williams Has played alot of football. Spent 5 years at Rice. So he is an experience piece.
Signed:
Bralan Womack 5 star and he will see the field.
Returning:
Smith.
I know there were 2 Safeties in yesterday. I assume, we are looking for 1 more that will be on the field. We do have some CBs that came in too. We may end up with another one. Over all, this is an SEC backfield. I do expect that part of the defense to be better.

There are only 2 positions that matter and that the O and D line. And right now according to everyone thats been underwhelming so far.

I would like to know what’s going on inside, because on the outside he’s correct. Who are we going to sign up front? This is not a troll.

I really hope there is a lot of good going on that we just can?t see. The last 2 years have been rough but there is a lot to sell about this team going into next year

They are the only two that matter, if you have the other spots figured out. Got to pay attention to all of them.

Still need a legit edge rusher and a war daddy nose guard.

That nose guard from A&M would be a huge addition to the DL. I believe we are about to sign the guy from LSU that will be a center here and hopefully the LT from UAB….but we will see

Dont forget Whitson returns. The NG? Absolutely. Need a beast there

What I do like is the over all attention to getting some players with experience for the here and now with a lot of highly rated talent. We have 1 year to test those younger talented guys. Should they work out, we can retain them and there is our starters for 2027 . That's when I believe our DEPTH will be what we need it to be to challenge.

Getting Whitson back is huge. We also get Trevion Williams and Dinkins back too. We need more but there is a foundation there at least. I agree we need a NT type more than anything.

I agree. We're probably one year away from being where we need to be depth wise.

We're still in it with the guard from North Carolina too. Miles McVay. Would be a massive pick up. And much like Whitson we get Steen back at tackle.

Sounds like we passed on the LT from UAB. He catfished us apparently. Like 3 inches shorter than his listed height. I’m beginning to get worried about the LT spot. We really have to get someone there on matter what it takes. Promise them money and then fundraise it if you have to. Can’t go into the year without a legit guy there.

BlackSailsDawg good breakdown on CB/S commits. Could you do OL and DL when you have a chance?

Paging c34….paging c34. This is the question I have for him. He’s pretty much a pessimist like me so would enjoy hearing his take on the big uglies that have been recruited.

But Whitson is the backside edge rusher in a 3 man front. Sam is going to walk down to the strong side and rush there

We have done pretty well on the OL on the inside. We need another OT that can play in my opinion.
My biggest concern is the youth movement we went on. We have signed alot of young guys and yes- we have been pretty good with retention on our roster. But I want some grown ass men on the OL. We didnt sign that at all. We went developmental- altho we have seemed to upgrade overall talent level.

Screams that Lebby feels safe to get 2027 which will make things very uncomfortable if we start 1-2. That could snowball to a 2-10 record. This group better gel early and starting off 3-0 would be huge for the confidence of young guys.

A 2-10 record and the masses will be calling for his head. But maybe he will get lucky and they mature quickly. Thanks c34 for your review.

We have upgraded the Secondary tremendously. We have done well on the interior OL and def gotten better on the DL- and yeah, as I said in a previous post- I dont think we would fire him at 5-7 next year unless we get a booster push writing checks
I'm not betting on W' or L's- but next season should be a better football team

The fact that all opponents are also bolstering and improving at the same time must be considered

Which is why we are in a great position. Look at whatbwe accomplished with that OL and that defense. Its astonishing.
For us, we had way more room to grow than say TX. So if we are remotely close this year in talent... I ain't scared. Let's put it on the field and grind.

And some won’t be able to pull in the talent they had in 2025 and end up worse
