Just in case Lebby wins 12 next year and we have to replace him...
Blake Harrell from ECU. I think he is going to be the top guy next year as far as G5 coaches go. He is kind of like Jon Sumrall in that he is a defensive guy but he is the DC of their team and they actually had better defensive numbers than Tulane did. They beat an 8-4 Pitt team today and as we know their OC is going to Ole Miss. Harrell in response went out and hired the OC from North Texas and I think that's going to be an upgrade. But defensively- ECU was the most fun team I have watched this year. Lots of aggressive blitzing, disguises, lining up in weird places and lots of turnovers. 7 of Pitt's points today came off of a fumble recovery. This is a guy that is like Joe Lee Dunn if he was a legit good head coach and he knows how to pair his team up with a fun high scoring offense. They are going to be better than 9-4 next year.
Eric Morris from North Texas. I think Oklahoma State hit a home run with this guy. He is off of the Mike Leach tree and his offense is routinely scoring 40+ points every time it seems like. The biggest issue with him was finding a good DC and he found one that is better than the earlier ones he had and as a result UNT has taken the next step. He is still growing but even though he is going to OSU I think he would be gettable if a SEC job like MSU came open.
Sean Lewis from San Diego State. He used to be the OC under Coach Prime at Colorado and was considered an offensive guru coming up in the MAC running the veer and shoot. He had a falling out at Colorado but now he is at San Diego State and won 9 games with them this year in year two. And prior to today when they faced off against another offensive jaugernaught his defense was only allowing 12 PPG and led the Mountain West in total defense.
