Note: It is difficult in today's portal world to tell the academic standing of these "student athletes" or the years of college athletic eligibility remaining.

I get all this information from the free daily articles on genespage. I started this thread as another ED asked for more information on the individuals who were announcing for the portal.

Just my opinion, but all but a couple of these players were misses in evaluations, signings, a reach for hopeful quick development or just "filler" for the roster or practice/scout teams. We must evaluate and sign better players ASAP!

Why? Most of these guys arent going to be moving up. There are no more developmental programs today which was our strength. We have to hit on guys just like everybody else does

This is true, as maybe Mitchell, a much-needed Safety for us, will be the only player on this list to go to an SEC or P4 program. Notice that six of these are WR's. We missed badly on that room for the 2025 season, HS, JC & portal, except for Thompson and Evans.

I'm afraid our 2025 HS/JC signing class will be a repeat of this, as 15 of the 29 are rated .86 or .85, with one .84, with very few getting a SEC offer except from us.

You got to try and sign some young guys to keep in your program. You cant flip the roster by 50 people every offseason

People can talk portal all they want, you have to play the game nowadays, but Georgia is number 1 out of playoff teams with only 10 percent of their starts coming from transfers. I know their recruiting is different than ours, but I thought that was very interesting. Ole miss was dead last at 64 percent

Former MSU RB Johnnie Daniels also enters the portal. He had a strong year for us last year as the #2 RB. This year, after falling to #3 behind Booth and Fluff, he quit after three games to claim a redshirt year to play somewhere else in '26. The portal and NIL are wonderful things****, a Wild, Wild West with very few rules at this time.

Update from last couple of days, add to outgoing:

Tyler Woodard S, one year left to play.

Ashun Shepphard DL, one year left to play.

Dwight Lewis DB, asking NCAA for a waiver for another year's eligibility or planning to take the matter to court.


I think the total now is 24 out and only about three made any meaningful contributions during this season. You will see this every year with the NIL and especially the portal. NO rules and a big mess.
