Bama at Oklahoma (-1.5)
Miami at aTm (-4)
Tulane at OM (-17.5)
James Madison at Oregon (-21)
I know lines aren't actual outcomes, but just think how the rules robbed the consumers (us) and the providers. Plug Texas at Oregon and nD at OM, and that would be an absolute great weekend of football.

The format is dumb too bc Oregon and OM reap more benefits than the 4 byes. They get a home warm up game, so financial benefits and get their timing back after a delay.

Just need to expand to 28 and give every conference an AQ. Every team should have access to controlling their own destiny. Win every game and you're national champion. Win your conference + win all playoff games. Simple as that. That's where we the consumer are truly robbed.
A 28 team model with all 10 conference champions would have games like USC - Utah, Houston - ND, BYU - Virginia, Michigan - Texsa, Miami - GT, JMU - Bama, Vandy - Arizona among others letting conference champions in like OU - Duke, Aggy - Boise, Ohio State - Wazzu, Oregon - WMU, Ole Miss - Kennesaw State in week 1. Then week 2 if you assume complete chalk - Indiana - Utah, Aggy - OU, Ohio State - ND, Tulane - BYU, Texas Tech - Texas, Oregon - Miami, Ole Miss - Alabama, Georgia - Vandy. (Tulane earns the 4th seed in my model that gives the top 4 conference champions the byes.)
Can't tell me that model wouldn't be thrilling football. Plus I didn't even have to tweak rankings to avoid any rematches in the first two rounds this year.

I don’t know the rules one bit, but don’t tell me James Madison and Tulane are better than N Dame and Vandy. The whole idea should be to get the best playing the best

Only P4 should be involved. If the lower tier schools want to have a football tourney then have at it.

Let the highest ranked g5 team play the #12 team to get in. Have it after the army-navy game every year.

That's where it's going. It will 100% be at least 24 teams. More likely 28.

Honestly, this is the way to do it. No one pretends the FBS and FCS are on the same level. Let's stop pretending G6 and P4 are on the same level.

This is more a change that needs to be made in the future for conference tie breakers than a format change. Whenever there is a tiebreaker for a conference title game, it should be the highest ranked team in the playoff rankings. Now, I do agree that there should be a format change to expand to 16 and eliminate the BYE with the first round being on campus for the top 8 seeds. In 10 years when we have super conferences and we aren?t included, be careful what you wish for about cutting the G5 team. We need to keep the G5 champ in.

FCS has 24. March madness has 68. It's honestly ridiculous how few we do have compared to every other sport pro or college. The % just doesn't make sense.

Baseball has 64.
Leach always tried to tell everyone it should be 64 teams. Lol

I'll watch Ole Miss just to see how they look without Kiffin but I doubt I tune in to Oregon-James Madison.
In this current NIL era I don't think a G5 school is going to sneak in and beat someone but even if that team exists it should be evident from watching them play.
OM beat Tulane 45-10 earlier this year and Tulane gets a rematch in a 12 team playoff because of some dumbass participation rule.

It's also a pretty good way to ensure that the best football team rarely would win the national championship.
Cap it at 16 and leave out the G5. That's the way to go.

Indiana has a composite talent ranking of 72 and they are the number 1 seed. That is worse than Tulane and other G5 teams so it is possible it can happen if you get the right coach.

Cig is a unicorn. He is just that damn good of a coach. His talent evaluation will be studied for years to come. Obviously having a 1st round pick at QB helps, but what he is doing is really damn impressive.

I love Cig because he has basically proven everyone wrong about how you have to have top talent to win. Marshall 1998 with Pennington and Moss was another team similar to this Indiana team that went undefeated and could have competed with the top teams but they weren?t given a chance. Sure it is rare, but the top G5 school needs its shot.

Which is stupid. But I'm not disagreeing that's where it's going. But a watered down pile of crap is what that is.

Then take it to 24. 10 conference champions and 14 at larges. That gives the SEC and the Big 10 probably 4 guaranteed spots a piece, the ACC and Big 12 probably 2 spots a piece, Notre Dame(if they're in the top 24), and an at large(probably another Big 10 or SEC team).
That will give you 8 on campus matchups in the first round and the top 8 get byes. That would mean the two lowest ranked conference champions would play in the first round and the other 8 would get byes.

Your best? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and **** the prom queen.
A champion should be about awarding the most deserving teams. Idgaf about if you're the best on vegas paper.
Peyton Manning is the best QB of all time but Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time. Rings get awarded to those who show up when it matters. This isn't 1990s NASCAR
