Solid hire considering they were bumbling through this search.

That's a pretty decent hire in all honesty.........He's built Iowa State into a competitive program...........

Hell of a hire for Penn St. Got an Iowa St buddy that said watch out for Sean Lewis or Nathan Scheelhaase to get the Iowa St job pretty quickly. Lewis is kind of cut from the same cloth as Campbell, coming from the MAC. Scheelhaase was with Campbell at Iowa St from 2018-2023 and was eventually the OC.

I asked him about Candle, since he took over for Campbell at Toledo, and he said he doubts that Candle would be very interested. Said Candle has told a bunch of people he's really happy at Toledo and likes the advantages they have in the MAC.

Matt Campbell was my first choice in 2017 when Mullen left. Of course Cohen probably had no idea who he was or had him on his radar. Penn State hit a homerun if this is true after their search appeared to be a big mess. The question will be whether or not Penn State can be patient enough for him to install his system. I have heard the same thing about Candle. He is a rarity in college football these days as he is happy at Toledo and does not seem to have any interest in coaching in the Power 4. He is from Ohio and has no desire to leave. Not saying he never would leave, but I think he has the ability to be very picky because he knows he can continue to win at Toledo.

Yea I wanted Campbell in 17 and 20. I doubt we would've had much of a chance either time but I know we didn't even broach the subject

No chance is 20 which is why I threw it out the window but we would have in 17 had Cohen attempted.

I doubt it. Campbell is a midwest guy. Almost every Iowa St fan has always said they were worried about 3 jobs with Campbell: Notre Dame, Ohio St, Penn St, and Michigan.

Lewis?s scheme is actually the Briles system. He just worked for Dino Babers and not directly with Art or Jeff.

Well, Penn State ain't exactly Midwest, geographically or culturally.

Iowa State hiring Washington State head coach Jimmy Rogers. Wazzu can't keep a head coach.

That is a slam dunk especially if he takes Bobbit with him. I want Bobbit as our DC so I pray there is a chance now

Good hire but its after signing day which is malpractice considering they fired Franklin 2 months ago. They will have to win the portal

Alright well then you know it's a ag college, with a population of 40 thousand, and mostly surrounded by dairy farms. It's not the opposite of the midwest.

Yeah. You're not selling that on any corner. I've spent significant time in both and there is little similarity. ESPECIALLY culturally.
