Halftime
Miss. State 42
Pittsburgh 14
Destiney Mcphaul leads all scorers with 16 points
Madison Francis 8
Mcpaul is literally putting on a show on national tv. Keep telling you all that she's one of the best, most head turning guards in the nation...eye test. Coaching staff has just started turning her loose.

First time I've taken a look this year but this may be the best team since Vic's last year. They are going to make some noise.

Final
Miss. State 79
Pittsburgh 44
- Destiney Mcphaul 22 pts, 4 rbs (3 quarters of play)
- Favaour Nwaedozi 14 pts, 7 rbs(3 quarters of play)
- Madison Francis 10 pts, 10 rbs (double double)
- Saniyah King 8 pts 3 rbs, 4 assists
- Trayanna Crisp 8 pts
- Jaylah Lampley 7 pts
- Miss. State absolutely dominated game.
- Mcphaul is the real deal
- Bench played part of the 3rd and the whole 4th quarter and gave up a huge chunk of points off of the
lead.
- Had they not pulled the starters so early Miss. State could have beat this team by over 70 points.
I agree that this is Miss. State best team since the Coach Vic Schaefer era. Definitely Coach Sam Purcell's best team since arriving. Team appears to go about 8 deep at this point. After that.....not as deep as some of Coach Schaefer's best teams but again that first 8 players appears the strength of the team.

Madison Francis, if Purcell can keep her, is a future superstar. She is that good.
I really like this team?s demeanor a whole lot better too.

We have a long way to go and still have to clean some things up but I've been telling yall about some of the talent on this team.

We looked athletic but take a look at Pitt. They are a very bad team.
Losses to Drexel, Scranton, Lafayette (the college in Pennsylvania), and Ball State. That's a horrible P4 team.
But overall I will say that Purcell has the team playing pretty well and I think there's room for us to continue growing.

Oh I agree, Pitt isn't a great team. But I've watched every game including our only loss to 10-0 Texas Tech who has blown everyone out they've played. We led Tech 31 - 16 after the 1st quarter but let them back in the game and ended up losing by 7.. we should have won that game. I also saw us beat a really good Davidson team who lost by 2 points to #7 Baylor. I've also seen us play sloppy, turn the ball over, miss easy shots, not box out etc..... I said all that to say this, we have a good team and a talented team, yes we will probably get beat (maybe badly) by some of the upper tier SEC teams and will have our ups and downs, but this team also has the talent to possibly go and shock some teams also. If we can keep the turnovers down like we did last night, I like us alot

Need Destiney Mcphaul to continue staying aggressive offensively, especially when teammates start going cold as a collective. Also, need her to stay aggressive helping get teammates involved through her dynamic passing abilities. She's good on defense as well. Coach Purcell indicated in the press conference after the game the need for Mcphaul to step up and take on that go to type player role in order for this team to be better able to accomplish the things that they're looking towards this season. Also, Saniyah King is starting to step it up more. She's starting to appear more and more comfortable out there coming off that high ankle injury. Trayanna Crisp continues to play well, shoot it well. She kinda reminds you of that tough Marcus Bullard type point guard but smiles a lot more and appears a really friendly person.
Mcphaul kinda reminds you of a left handed version of former South Carolina standout guard Zia Cooke.
