This makes me think the rumor on players could be true. They are in panic mode to keep their team and as much staff as possible in place. This was a mistake imo

msstate7

I expect them to name an offensive assistant as OC any minute now.

Santiago

Give it to Carter.... He is playing chess....hired DC Pete before Penn State, Wyoming, or anyone else could swoop in and take him ***

DC Pete is gonna kill it.

Ole Miss reported to offer the offensive staff double their salaries to stay at ole miss. I assume Pete took a low pay to just get the job.

BUT I will say, honestly, damn good job AD Carter. We needed that leadership after Mullen left here.
Need now too - should have hired double salary to all personnel while Lebby learned on the freaking job for 2 years.

Even though I think they may have panicked here, they didn’t 17 around. They made a decision and went with it.

OM is doing all they can to make sure the home playoff game goes as scheduled, but I don't think this is a good plan with an eye to the future.

Leach passes away we panic, promote inexperienced DC. Then let him fire half the staff.
Ole Miss promotes DC, and doubles the pay of offensive staff to keep continuity.

It may fall flat on them in a year, but they went all in, and kept their boosters fired up doing it. Checked all boxes.

"Remaining continuity" is like being diagnosed with a fatal disease. Has any pro or college team succeeded when they use this term in the hiring process? Sean Payton made the saints, not the staff. Mike leach made state, not the staff. Lane made OM, not the staff.

I don't either. They are going to get a taste of what we've been though. I don't care what their NIL boosters come up with.

Guys, they don?t have any options. They had to make this move due to hosting a playoff game on 12/19 or 12/20. They?re just praying that they can hold it together.

Charlie Weis Jr. is going to be LSU OC. LSU also keeping Baker as DC. That's their dream scenario. Them cajuns are gonna be hell.

And I'm pretty sure Judge went to LSU too. I haven't heard about anyone else though. I know that Kiffin is keeping Frank Wilson but not sure what position group he would coach. Probably running backs?

That is definitely a good point. With an interim they may get left out.

Yep. Selmon still playing checkers with football while Carter plays chess! They know they can at least stand pat with the current staff sans Kiffin. Meanwhile, 2 days later and Lebby?s staff is still intact! 😔😔😔

Problem with that is they aren’t going to keep the current staff sans Lane, some have already left.

Absolutely no reason to make it permanent right now. Could have easily named him interim, explore options, audition in the playoff and then hire him later

It sounds to me like McCready is saying the offensive staff is staying but I'm not sure if that's through the playoffs or permanent?

Kiffin was the offensive staff. Without him it doesnt matter who stays.
This was a horrible decision and a panic move. Cant change identities this drastically this quickly and expect similar results. Going to set the behind us, now Lebby needs to capitalize.

Not going to lie, kind of jealous LSU can buy off BK and then snake LK away from OM and FL plus pony up $25 mil for NIL.

I would take Arnett back today as DC, but rushing him into being a head coach was a mistake. I feel OM is making the same mistake.

I really don't think their plan is to keep Golding as HC. Maybe they do, but I think it's just to
A) Keep the team together as much as possible.
B) I think it's a ploy toward the playoffs committee. It "looks" better to have a "permanent" HC instead of an interim.

I could be wrong. I haven't seen anything contract wise between them. If they come out with a 3 year contract then of course I'd be wrong. But I'm gonna say they don't do a 2 or 3 year deal with him.

And they were planning on keeping the offensive staff. Half of them went with Kiffin. And I have to think that if Judge can get a head coaching job somewhere like Tulane he is going to take it too.

I wonder why they went with Golding instead of Judge? I figured he was gone after I seen Golding got the gig.

I don't know.

I think Judge wants to coach at MSU one day. If they lost him to us their egos would be like today. Plus Judge probably knew that if he took their job he might not be able to come here because we have some fans that might not like it too.

Maybe he isn't ready for an SEC job esp having to replicate the Success of LK. Heck better to be Bob Tyler than Bruiser Kinnard.
