People filing into town tonight and nothing is open. Not even Kroger.

Choices for a meal? 1 Mexican restaurant with a 2 hr wait, Waffle House, Sonic, and Applebees with a 2 Hr wait. Thousands upon thousands of dollars for this town lost tonight.

Mexican Thanksgiving it is.

Its Thanksgiving. I won?t begrudge anyone for not opening.

2 Brothers and Taste were fine having private parties tho. It’s bullshit and a huge fail for a college town with a full stadium and a national game at 11am tomorrow.

Yet another reason we are bottom of the SEC

I may not "begrudge" it, but I question the business acumen of the restaurants who decided to close.

9pm- Mexican restaurant still has 20 people waiting outside in the cold to get in

If the game was today they would all be open. It shouldn't be any different with the game being tomorrow morning. I'm all for people having time off for holidays but if you want to be a college town then be a damn college town.

One of the worst takes I've seen on here. Glad business owners prioritize family time over making money. For a guy that nearly died not long ago, you should appreciate that.

Also, I love when people who have never ran their own successful business criticize those who are currently in the game. It's like all the old fat cowboy fans that criticize dak when the cowboys lose.

Why do you assume that people who decide to open their business on Thanksgiving don't prioritize family? Lots of families do Thanksgiving gatherings on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Or in another week or month altogether. Who are you to judge them?

That would be the exception not the rule, 90% of people celebrate today.

Dont fault either side of the coin though, be open or close up to the one who actually has a stake in the business.

Also whats the fix, have the city mandate local businesses stay open?

Huge fail. A ton of people wanted to hit the bars tonight. They are all closed.

It?s damn Thanksgiving. It?s a dumb ass schedule to have a game on Thanksgiving or the day after. Especially at damn 11 am on a Friday.

So what? People are coming to the town from all the surrounding states. If I was a restaurant or bar- we would have been rocking and rolling tonight. I bet that damn Mexican restaurant made 50-100K today. There were 20 people standing outside from 6:30 when we got there till 9:30 when we left. As soon as a table came open- there was a new crew sitting there within 3 mins

TV makes that decision for us for the most part

But you are not a restaurant or a bar, though you may be shaped like one, so maybe let the people with their capital on the line make the decision?

I travel for a lot of holidays. Best advice I can give is to do research on what restaurants are open. Expect most to be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Probably could include NYD and 4th of July.

I've done a few Cracker Barrel Thanksgivings. Those are actually pretty awesome as long as you get it to go.

This is the best solution. But since TV dictates when we play our fans must plan accordingly.

Dave's is the local's spot that will always be open. Hobbies Tiki was open, 2 brothers had a private friends and family party then opened to the public, a few others open for bar hours. Sorry you didn't get your Big Mac on Thanksgiving. Be a man. Cook your own turkey
There's not a lot of money in the restaurant business btw. Average 6% profit margin. So to risk "all that money" in exchange for employees getting to spend time with their loved ones is a good trade off. Even if they were open, people like you would have bitched and complained the whole time, making some poor waitress have to deal with the fact you can't provide for your family.

I truly don?t think there is a fan base out there that complains as much as ours. The funny part about that segment is they will complain and cry until they get what they want but they won?t do anything to try and help improve our program. They would rather lose recruits, TV exposure, etc to make it all about them
