Halftime
Miss. State 34
Alcorn State 14
Francis 9 points 3 steals
Miss. State had held them to 4 total points edging towards late in the first half but gave up some points moving towards later. Also, Miss. State with a relatively big scoring lapse late in the first half. Will need to continue working on consistency offensively

Alcorn State out playing Miss. State in the second half. Appears Miss. State has regressed since the Texas Tech game.

Final
Miss. State 65
Alcorn State 51
Francis- 15 points 4 assists, 3 steals, 1 block
Richardson- 10 points
Mcphaul- 9 points
Lampley- 9 points, 10 rebounds (near double double)
Madison Francis continues to appear the best passer on the team as well. Also, Mcphaul...very good passer.Team doesn't look anywhere near ready for SEC play right now. Though Miss. State did play several subs off of the bench late in this game...still the team appears to have regressed significantly since that second quarter of the Texas Tech game.

This team appears to be no more than about 7 deep right now. Once you get past this......
Will need to try keeping the rotation tight against Middle Tennesse State tomorrow as you try to gain control of the game.
Need to build additional depth as the season moves forward.
Also, need to cut down on these turnovers and get much more consistency on both ends. Keep practicing on the fundamentals, layups, open shots. ect....all mostly fundamentals type stuff.

Our bench played most of the second half, I am told, and were beaten by ASU in the second half. This does not bode well for the team and coaching staff. Our bench should also be able to dominate against the Alcorns of the world. I fear a long year once we get into the SEC. The embarrassingly easy OCC schedule to start the year will give the impression of a good season when it?s all said and done. Hope I am wrong, but we have gotten worse in SEC play each year over the last three. Need to get the train moving in the other direction.
