Thought I would share something that happened at my command back in the Soviet times. The command Site One, Submarine Squadron 14, Holy Loch Scotland which existed from 1961 thru 1992.
Maybe some ED vets can share their military experience?

Plenty of Good Stories but best one making my last jump and was trying to hit on this dam good looking 2nd LT from the W who was 3 jumpers behind me in the stick. Red light is on and I knew we had about 5 mins to the green light. So I'm talking to her and some new Cherry Major who was making his 1st Jump at Bragg said Lieutenant maybe you better pay attn to what you are doing. Now this was number 40 for me. So I gave him a FU look and then asked him where he got his commission. He said Mississippi State 1971, Aske him if he knew a Richie Collins class of 71 and he said he was best friend with him and his wife. Both lived in the same trailor park. Green Light came on and out I go. Needless to say some Dumbshit private ran into me about 150 Ft up, collapsed my chute and I had a very bad landing. So Major Mitchell MSU Class of 71 if you are on here please PM me and tell me her name.

Hey Coursuper when I was at Bragg we had a Marine Arty unit supporting us during a live fire exercise. They were from Lejune. This was to give ANGLICO practice with Marine Arty. Anyway we got a short one that landed behind us. Thank heaven it was a dud. I heard a few months later they were at Lejune and had one go out of their impact area and land on a perimeter road and kill a marine wife driving on the road. Must have happened in 85. Did you ever hear about this.

Yes I did it was well known in Marine Arty, as you know with Arty shooting out happens. I witnessed at 29 Palms and on Oki, on Oki the impact area is 1 grid square and a battery shot out and luckily only killed a bunch of hogs. My dumbass didn't hear an MRL line trip and wound up way to close to a battalion size time on target at 29 palms, that was not fun. ANGLICO is term I haven't heard in a long time, I did a good bit of work with some of those guys in the desert though.

A sincere Thank you to all vets and active service military. My late "SuperDawg Dad", (left us far to young at 59, in 1994), joined the MS National Guard as a teenager and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. I still have his uniform and my son wore the shirt to an Elementary Veterans Day Program. Dad also told me of a way too close artillary live fire exercise that took place at Camp Shelby once. There is such danger in your military service and not just in combat.

Dad's Iuka unit was the second on the scene after the Belmont unit the first night of the riots at OM. In the documentary, credit is given to regular army units for saving the day, but without small town MS young men (Federalized by JFK), doing their duty, the mess would have been much worse. They stayed there for weeks and despite an offer of a promotion to Master Sergeant, he said about 50% of his unit got out after this mess.
