All I'm going to say is the ads are based on your browsing history....

That's always a fun response, but the algorithm is a lot more complicated than that. For example, the #1 thing I get on ads here (on my phone, that is, because I block them on the laptop) is Republican/pro-Trump politics, and I can assure you I don't ever browse for that. #2 is women's clothes (not sexy clothes, just normal dresses and shirts), and I have never bought clothes for myself online before, much less for a woman.

For whatever reason, the algorithm has used my habits to infer some kind of picture of me and thinks I'm going to click on those ads, but I think we can all see that it's missed the mark.

As for the OP, he's probably not already doing gay hookups, so he wouldn't need the ad. But something about him, whether it's his habits, or his location and perceived demographics or whatever, has convinced the algorithm that he might be a candidate to be interested in one, whether that's based on something actually there or just another AI screwup.

Not just browser history but your phone does actually "listen" to you and what you talk about... So if it has heard him with another man or engaging in intercourse with another man that could be why he is being presented those type of ads.

Please site the study because I've never seen a direct study to conclude that conservatives are much more likely to commit child sex abuse than liberals. Oh there have been anecdotal claims of this on social media platforms but no actual studies showing a direct correlation. The closest was about religious men who commit child sex crimes. The honest biggest conclusion you could make from that study in the late 90's was that 93% of child sex predators identified themselves as religious (not the type of religion just religious) which unsurprisingly equaled to the fact 93% of the entire population also identified themselves as religious during that time.
