John Harris has four sacks.. Really

I guess the next question is -- who was responsible for blocking him? Would be great to see a DE contributor basically come out of nowhere though to help depth there...

Woah...that would be huge if we can get something out of him. He'll be a junior next year, maybe the light just came on. I remember thinking he had potential when we signed him. He hasn't really contributed at all, so anything we can get out of him would be great.

Heck, I forgot he was even on the team.

That is a positive for sure. But keep in mind we didnt practice ANY of our starting 5. matter of fact almost all starters saw no PT..

I'd expect Ryan Brown to emerge much like Preston Smith did.

I think this is Torrey Dale's last chance too. Howl fully he'll start reaching his potential because that dude has lottery pick upside. He does things that you just can't teach.

A walk-on, Thompson, was blocking him. Brakes=pump

That answers that. But here's something I've always wondered about: have the coaches ever thought about trying him on the OL? Or any other DL that doesn't get meaningful snaps.. I realize there is a lot to learn but I'd think it's worth a try with some guys.

With John Harris, I doubt it. He was something like 220 pounds when he showed up on campus and is still probably pretty slim for a DE; I doubt he has the frame to add the kind of weight it would take.

Some guys, like Carmon, can make the switch, but I think he had some experience at OL in HS. It would be pretty difficult to teach a DL everything he would need to know to really contribute on the OL, especially with only a couple years of eligibility left.

Harris has hardly seen the field up to this point. But the little playing time he's had he's looked good. Long and pretty quick.

He looked pretty slim Saturday.

Harris is a long, rangy defensive end who looks to have a future as a pass rushing specialist. He has a tremendous wingspan which makes him difficult to evade on the edge, but John will need some time in the weight room to add the bulk he will need to take on college level tackles. At this point he is quick enough to get outside and get to the quarterback, but in order to be an every down player he will need some time in the weight room.

That is what was posted when he came in.

Oh I was thinking about Corvell Harrison-Gay.. I got the names mixed up with the player.
