My son just got invited to join Shackouls Honors College. He will be enrolling at State as a Freshman in the Fall. Anyone had experience with the Honors College? Pros? Cons?

Great teachers and smaller classes.

There's really no cons because you can be as involved in it as you want to be.

I was in it. Def no cons to it at all. Back then you also got to stay in the nicer dorm if you were in it not sure if that?s still a perk. I never thought much about it as I was busy doing non productive things my freshman year but surprisingly when I graduated and was job searching a lot of hiring managers asked about it

The biggest benefit is being able to register early as an underclassman. Makes it much easier to stay on track and get classes you want.

Thanks! Very proud. Kid has knocked it out of the park. Starter on his football team, 4.0 GPA and a 32 on his ACT. Thanks for the info everyone. We really like that he gets priority housing and classes as well.
