So Animal Health unexpectedly processed the pup in yesterday during the exam; they wanted to do some additional prep before the surgery this morning (surgery went exceedingly well). Anyway that gave me an open afternoon/evening yesterday. So jumped out to the Peabody overnight and for some ribs at the Rendezvous. Ended the evening with a nightcap at the Peabody lobby bar. Something my late wife and I had done occasionally. Good memories.

Now back in StarkVegas and pondering this evening. Looking for a relatively new place to have a good dinner and a couple of cocktails.

Taste

Or you can always go for the classics: The Grille or Harveys.

Thanks guys. Going to do 44 Prime since I'm in the mood for calamari. And I'm finally back in the weight room these many months after heart surgery, so a big slab of steak protein is perfect.

But of course the name alone will have me making Big E's the go to for the next football weekend :)

Thanks again fellas. If all continues to go well, get to head back home in the morning with the pup. 'See' y'all here Saturday for a big win! HailState!!

I was not a huge fan of taste. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I was not overly impressed.

I'd don't know what days they are open (probably only on weekends), but the Guest Room on the backside of Restaurant Tyler (it doesn't open until 4).

The Courtyard bartender also reinforced the ones you guys suggested, including Taste and the Guest Room. So have choices to try for the next trip.

Will definitely do 44 Prime again. The calamari, while somewhat nontraditional, was excellent. A light tempura batter with an Asian chili sauce. Very much recommend. Also the ribeye, broiled asparagus and loaded baked potato were very good. Not quite on par with say Ruth's Chris/Mortons of course but 44 only charging $57 for the ribeye. It's $84 at Ruth's Chris.

All accompanied by a Bulleit rocks which was just right.

Still just astounded that we now have these types of offerings in StarkVegas. My oh my how far we've come when back in the day Bully's was our go to.

Taste is usually solid. Not spectacular but not bad too me.

30ish years old and lives with his parents? Dad either works at a nearby manufacturing facility or recently retired? From or IL or OH? I meet him during a stay a few months back. Liked to talk.

That's Jason; he's 29. Yes, likes to talk which was good for me as a conversationalist. His Dad is retired from Paccar and they are originally from Ohio. We talked about various subjects but mostly cooking. He cooks and I'm of course having to develop some skills being a widower. Very enjoyable time while I had a few Woodruffs after the meal at 44 Prime.

Surgeon is keeping pup another day. So I get to enjoy StarkVegas one more day and ponder another dining choice for the evening. Life is good.

Do y'all know if baseball is scrimmaging today?

Speaking of this is not the Starkville of my days in school here. Hotel stays in a non game week going for 250+ to 300+. Even the Hampton is $200+.

Oh yeah. Someone told me that last week and I was planning to go. Now of course I'm in Starkville while they'll be playing not too far from Fairhope. And I very much wanted to go to that. My dislike for FSU baseball is second only to OM. Sometimes things just don't work out.
