Had always seen the Vet School/Animal Health Center campus from the road but had never been inside and engaged. In Starkville for a few days as I decided to have them surgically repair my pup's ACL. FOLKS THIS PLACE IS FIRST CLASS!! Proud to call it ours!!!

Not could be. It is among the best. It's elite. Right up there with our broadcast meteorology and aerospace engineering programs. We really don't brag about those nearly as much as we should.

Yeah, its a good school, but FAR from the best. Its got some personnel issues that keep it from raising the ceiling, especially with small animal internal medicine (and clinical "science") admin and faculty leadership. They're trying to address some of this, but still a ways to go; there has been improvement tho!

I'll also add, this list is a little bogus, lol.

Fair but we are top 5 for sure. Any list that does not have CSU as 1 is wrong too imo

Yes. Based on my experience today, I'd be very surprised if actually not top 5.

I mean sure. As far as costumer service goes, its top notch. Most are in this regard, obv. But...there is a good ole boy system (that also includes women, lol) in the admin, faculty, and staff, that very much hinders the schools potential. It is what it is. There is a ton of faculty turnover, which isn't necessarily uncommon for vet schools, but its certainly high here (due to toxicity from above statement). Research and grants are lagging significantly...also bc of above mentioned issues. And "perceived" loyalty has been rewarded over merit for years.... All of this definitely has an impact on who you can hire, who even wants to work there, what students you attract (which tbf, isn't really an issue for vet schools given the demand), and the education/training/research exposure they get.

To be fair/clear, my experience is with the Small Animal Health Care Center and not the school/research/faculty/grants/academics. I can say the third-year student who did the intake and the surgeon/consultation were top notch. And the facility is first class.

I have no doubt, Ed. Very glad you had a great experience!

Thanks Beard. And I was not at all casting a shadow about any comments in the thread, just clarifying what my experience pertained to.

Not just broadcast, but meteorology all around. CAVS and their Additive Manufacturing program - doing some ground breaking stuff there
