I'm going to soft buy but I have no idea who Arch's backup is or if they are any better.

Sark is in a pickle.

Sell. Hard Sell. Too much money invested in the kid and, although he has played bad at times, their line is absolutely atrocious.

How can Texas have an atrocious line? I understand how we can, but Texas should have a second string that is better than 80% of the Olines in college football.

With all the cornfed country boys around Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas you'd think the OL would be a super strong position group for them.

After thinking about it I guess benching Arch would actually make things worse.

I still think we beat their ass.

Easy sell. Arch has not been close to the hype yet, but he also has not been terrible. He will get better, he does have tools.

Arch might be part of the problem, but their offense as a whole is just not clicking. They have OL issues similar to us. At the same time I think OU is pretty overrated and the RRR will be close. OU should?ve lost to Auburn but the refs gave them the game and their offense outside of Mateer is pretty vanilla. ATM, Bama, Tennessee, UGA still look like the 4 best teams. Mizzou is a wildcard than OU, Ole Miss and Vandy I think are on similar levels. We have the worst part of our schedule done. If we get healthy I still see a path to 7-5 if we can show up and play mistake free in the Egg bowl.

like when he stood still for 5-7 seconds, curled up and was sacked several times? he's worth 12-15 mil and sark has to play him.

Being that Archie fought against hiring Lane and then Lane either showed up late or no showed, depending on who you ask, a lunch with Arch and his family during his recruitment I very seriously doubt Lane will come calling or Arch would answer.

The defense is the least of their problems. The OL had been awful though

We will % be the starter the rest of this year and next year (baring injury). If he continues to suck, they may have to revert to an old school Saban ground game. How many natty's did Saban win with mediocre QBs?

He has played against scrub opposition in high school and now everything has changed for him. I believe the Eli Holstein was a better Louisiana High School Quarterback. Glad Eli is not going to be the Texas quarterback?

Peyton also played against the same scrub competition. The reality is Arch just isn't as good. He's a 3 star QB with a 5 star name and it just so happens to be one of the most influential names in football.

I saw online yesterday, didn’t verify so I don’t know how accurate, but through 6 games as a starter, Arch has almost identical stats as Peyton and Eli. Wish I knew where I saw that…

Could fellow elitedoggers school me up further on the first 6 starts shown in this communication? Were Eli and Payton starting earlier in their college careers? Also who were the opponents faced by the three Mannings in their 6 game window?

I honestly don’t care enough to look anything else up on Arch Manning. I could care less if the guy succeeds or fails in football. I just found it interesting, because I thought he was doing horrible just like everyone else.

It is interesting but I will say that in this era passing is more sophisticated and teams are passing more than in the 1990's/early 2000's when Peyton and Eli played.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_career.htm

I don't believe Dan Marino is the 46th best QB or all time not do I believe that Lamar Jackson is the best of time IMO. My point is there is a consistent trend with QB rating favoring players that played more recently.

Now that said I could point out that Arch has more interceptions. I think Arch is overhyped but I also at the same time think he is better than some of his detractors say he is. I think he is simply a 3 star level QB with a famous last name. He was never going to go pro after this year and he will probably play five years. Just like Eli. Peyton played four. This is how the Manning's do business and honestly it's a great way to go about it IMO. Redshirt and learn the offense, be the back up as a RS freshman and then start for three years.

We are both wrong it was against Washington State according to the evil empire. And we were both right/ His 1st game he played in was against UCLA and he came off the bench against State but his 1st start was against Washington State.

Eli was a mediocre QB who was the benefactor of a well coached team that could run the ball and had a lights out D. He was on the right side of a few huge plays. He'll be in the HOF.

Yes we did. Probably the biggest win against Tennessee in school history with 1986 being in the discussion. They literally replay a highlight from that game every pregame.

Don Smith was electric that day! One of my favorite all time Msu football players! Also, in Jackson playing Bama with Shula being their coach, he was killing them until he broke his collarbone. He was unstoppable this day as well.

I am saying he has lost 2 games this year. Why do they only include the first 6 starts if he has started more than that? He has 2 losses as a starter this year and if you add in his stat line from the Florida game it bring his percentage down significantly and adds 2 more interceptions. So it is a pretty disingenuous graphic.

Don Smith should have won the EB that year......It flooded and there was a pond in the south east area of the stadium. For some reason Felker or whoever kept running plays into that pond......om had a good team....not great. They went on and lost YUGE to Michigan in the bowl game.......but I will NEVER understand why the “DOGS” kept running into the pond.....Somebody please explain....
