Our OL was also a problem last year. We hired a castoff, Kennedy, who was fired at Arkansas. I don't know how good our new OL coach is this year, but we hired him from Colorado which had OL woes last year and their QB Sanders was constantly sacked and accused of holding the ball too long. I have no idea how good our current OL were regarded in the portal, but the new former Colorado OL coach started bringing in several more portal OL after our spring game which was 9-0 fiasco in less than 2 quarters. It looks like beyond doubt this is a two year mess in both a lack of talent and maybe even coaching hires. BTW, I am a grandpa, in fact, a 1955 model and saw us tie a ranked OM team in 1963. I've seen a lot of bad football from MSU since then, but I ain't giving up! Hail State!

Ah, 1963. The game where Vaught pussed out and wouldn't go for 2 so that Ole Miss could win a SEC title.
I think it's too soon to know about Loadholt. He was hired late and honestly, we would be even worse without Owens and Jayvin James who I believe he brought in. Who knows how good Steen would be right now although he struggled some against USM- it's a small sample size. If he had a full portal recruiting cycle I believe he and we would have been much better off. Like Hutzler last year, I don't think he has a lot to work with now. The only thing I think we know for sure is that Kennedy turned out to be not so good.
Mayberry has been a disappointment to me. Work and Jimothy have good potential- but they're still young players. They should be good as upperclassmen but right now they're struggling and Work was playing out of position tonight. The JUCO players we recruited haven't done anything yet. Thanks to Diego Pavia they have four more years to figure it out if they aren't processed out by then.

He was possibly the best OL coach we ever had. And I go back to when I was at MSU in the 60s.

Great coach who hated recruiting battles. Good evaluator, though.

I don't know where he is right now, but he could be a great "analyst."

I dare say that our OL was better 2 years ago when we actually had guys pulling in opposite directions. That's how bad we are now.

Strength of the team is our rbs, so we need to rb screen the hell out of teams until their DEs are a step slow watching for it
