Doesn’t seem right. A guy on the verge of leaving a year ago but had the deal pulled and Kentucky has to keep him with the bad press about him leaving already out there. Did they extend his contract or something when he was forced to return?

That's crazy money for being mid tear.

He got extended because they were rolling- and thats why he was a candidate for other jobs. Now? Buyer's remorse

That was a very stupid business decision. They were "rolling" for like.....a minute.

Why would you give a coach like Stoops a buyout like he is Nick Saban?
They're basically in the same situation we were in with Dan in 2016 except with a massive buyout.
Best way out of it for them would be to spread the buyout over a number of years.

The best way out for them is Kirk Ferentz retires and Stoops takes the Iowa job. However, if they do not commit to funding football, it does not matter who their HC is

Unjustified buyouts, biggest gimmicks Agents ever came up with and wacky AD's, schools and boosters falling for it. Buyer beware. Know it benefits some schools, but seems like many deals are out of control in favor of the coach. College football is out of control today in so many way$. Anyone know our deal with Lebby or Jans?

Mullen job searched yearly

Mullen job searched yearly
And his agent is probably working on one of these open and potentially open SEC jobs right now, but that's what they are paid for. Now no loyalty for coache$ or player$. Been to every home game for approximately 60 years. After 4 home games this year, still don't know 15 players by their numbers. Portal is worse than NIL, no rules. At least the NFL (which I keep up with the standings, but only watch highlights except entire games when Dak is playing), has a salary cap and multi-year contracts.

Already rumored to be interested in Arkansas.

If you shop at Kroger regularly you will probably notice a sharp increase in prices to cover the Stoops buyout. Jon Sumrall will be the next coach at Kentucky.

I've heard that talked has cooled considerably in the last 6 months. Sumrall is going to want some assurances that he's given a chance to succeed and he's watching it in real time that Kentucky is not giving Stoops a chance to succeed in terms of NIL and Rev Share.

though Stricklin would be going to get him back since they've sucked since he left and it is his dream job.

Here's a thought:
Cohen talks the Crazies at Auburn into hiring Mullen. Freezus has probably 3 more losses coming and possibly 4. I dont see him surviving 7-5 much less 6-6.

I can absolutely 100% see Cohen doing this. There?s some chatter on the AU podcasts that Freeze has been told if he loses the next two games he?s gone.

Freeze needs at least 7 wins to show some improvement from the last 2. Another 6-6 year and he is done, but it makes Auburns coaching search more difficult because they have now had multiple coaches not work out. I think 7-5 is still reasonable with wins against Mizzou, @Ark, Kentucky and Mercer. I don?t see them winning anything else outside that though

Didn't they butt heads? I thought the rumor was Mullen didn't like Cohen and that was one reason he left along with trying to get easier recruiting

A Mullen hire would be a positive at Kentucky, Arky or Aubie.

Zero chance Mullen to Auburn. He might go to Arkansas or Kentucky.
ETA - Unless they fire Cohen first. Which is possible and beautiful.
