I start with I could be very off the reservation here. That being said, I don't think I am.
Quarterbacks. On one side you have a quarterback that has played in pretty lack luster competition his whole career. This is going to be his first true road test with actual pressure on his shoulders.
My X factor is the cowbells. We are about to find out if Joey is real between the ears. If he isn't and we rattle him. That's game over.
On the other side you have a quarterback that is fighting to prove that he is top tear, fighting to prove to NFL scouts he can get the job done. If he gets it done this weekend his NFL stock is going to rise a lot, and Shapen knows this, he is at home and knows this game means a tone for him personally and the team.
X factor will Shapen show that he can ball out and take charge of a game.
Praying Shapen can.

While I would love for what you say to actually happen, I'm of the opinion that this will be a LOS game and we will be exposed on both the OL and DL in this game. I don't think Shapen will have the time he needs to get the long passes off that he has become accustomed to and that UT will actually be able to run the ball at a healthy clip. I hope I'm wrong.
The 4-0 start is nice and I think Lebby has us on the right track, but I'm not feeling it this game.

^^^ our run D is as bad as last year. The only way we hang in this game is if we can match them score for score. Shapen can't hold he ball long. I hope we mix it up and bring our other two QBs in for designed runs.

I do not know about Shapen. Yes he is the best thing on our roster as qb. Yes he has some really good attributes. He can make all the passes. But in my opinion he sometimes tries to hard to make things happen and that leads to busted plays or incomplete passes or sacks.
In the Tn. game my x-factor is our running backs. If our Oline can just halfway block our rbs can run and run with authority.
The X factor for me is the 1st quarter. If Tenn comes out like they did in the Ga game and scores 21 points we are done. the emotional aspect of the game the crowd noise etc will be gone. If we can keep it close into the 4th we have a chance. There is no doubt they are the better team, but we can upset them.

The true X factor is talent; Tn is the more talented team with more experience in winning. I hope we win, and we "might' have a slight chance but way too much Orange to overcome this weekend.

You folks are making my point. If Shapen can over come these things and carry the team that is going to help him a lot. I agree with the LOS but he has to overcome that obstacle.

X factor is turnovers and gift TDs. Such as a special team TD or pick 6/scoop score.
That's what it usually takes for State to win a sec game as an underdog.

Shapen is it for me. If he'll keep his emotions in check and plays like a 6th year senior we have a shot. If he plays like a sophomore taking sacks and pressing trying to force plays it will be over early in the 3rd quarter. I need Shapen to play like a mature player. If not we need to start sprinkling in the freshman phenom.

This is the first road game for Tennessee. The crowd needs to make Joey as uncomfortable as possible. If the crowd plus the defense can get Joey seeing ghosts and making bad decisions we have a chance to win this game.

It is Shapen and the OL giving him time. We lose ASU if the OL is 5% less effective. I want to say our secondary but tbh I think they have proven themselves to date it isn?t going to be an X factor

Didn't someone say that the dline from ASU would be like the best we would play against this year?

Best "Non-Conference". Georgia, aTm, Tennessee, Missouri, and UF probably have better defensive lines overall.

Someone did but I disagree with that
