1) the big play deep ball. We have 2 of fastest WR in nation against a weakened secondary. Shapen must be on.
2) Build on the strong running game. We've looked better each game. Fluff ain't soft and we have depth. Kamario can factor in here if we are smart. Run ball shortens the game too.
3) Our corners have shown they can cover. Kelly Jones can shut down one of their WR if he is locked in.
4) Pressure on QB. We may not have elite up front but our LB are good and safety blitz also needs to be used. BTW, UGA front 7 has 0 sacks on the year and they beat UT.
5) Home field, if this were a night game, I'd give MSU 7 pts for home field but daytime start helps UT but DWS is still a hard place to play for a team not road tested yet.
6) If FG come into play, MSU favored. Ferry will kick on Sundays.
7) I think the team is hungry similar to ASU game. They smell the importance of this game.
What else am I missing?
Hail State!!

1 and 3 on your list are concerns.
#1 I agree about us taking some deep shots. But we have to give Shapen time to throw the deep ball.
#3. I agree our corners can cover. But they can’t cover forever. We have to get some pressure.

We came out flat for NIU because the team was already practicing for Tennessee.
They are going to be locked in Saturday afternoon.

I think NIU just had a good game plan and won the toss. They were basically trying to run down clock to keep us from having the ball and then fortunately for them we missed some deep shots early. We scored on our first drive and when we got the ball back to start the half we dominated like we should have.

I think we need to be methodical our first drive and set the tone of possible.

Gotta cut down the penalties - especially the OL holding. It's a killer.

They did have a good game plan and executed well early. The onside kick was a great move on their part but a good response by us. Once we got ahold of the game it was clearly over IMO.

Agree low penalties and no TO are a given to any team trying to beat a good team.

Agree need to eat some clock (try the NIU strategy) on first drive to wear them down a little. Need to score early to get the crowd into the game. If UT scores first, the crowd will turn dead.

Our pass blocking has mostly been good. Sacks have been due to Shapen holding ball too long. Pressue is my comment on blitzing safeties and stunts on inside. UGA has no sacks from D front 7 on the year and they still beat UT and got a little pressure from safety coming. We must do the same. Blueprint is there.

When thinking about how to win this game the line from a movie comes to mind....one old knight to another .....
"how do you beat him?" .......... "with a stick while he's asleep"

Our special teams had a really rough day against UNI but that was a key play that Reyes came up with. If they get the ball back they could have gotten some momentum.
