Does the 4 game rule still apply to redshirts? I think KT has taken snaps in all four games we've played. I can't imagine that Coach Lebby is going to redshirt him in this new NIL/Transfer Portal era. So given KT's extraordinary athletic ability, how do you see KT's role going forward? Does his role expand in SEC play? He creates a nightmare for defenses. He definitely could be used in the Tim Tebow role.

The exact same role we've used him in so far. Short yardage situations.

Tebow only threw 33 passes his Freshman season- most of them in mop up duty. 23 of the 33 came in 3 blowout games. He did run the ball 89 times tho on the season

KT needs some packages in the game. He can flat out help us when D is stopping our run up the middle.

He will not redshirt. And if Pavia wins his challenge, the redshirt will go away entirely anyway and they will be able to play 5 years.
I agree with those saying we need to keep using him as we have. Shapen runs the offense well and is our best QB going forward but KT can have a role like he has in short yardage.

Yeah, I'm sure not suggesting that he replace Shapen. I really liked when he was on the field with Shapen. I could see that being a part for a few plays a game.

I expect his role to expand more as the season progresses. He will obviously get more comfortable day by day

Kamario will be here 3 years.

We should redshirt him if we're smart. He's not going to start this year anyway barring injuries.
So if he leaves after two years then he leaves. But at least by redshirting him you don't force his hand into leaving. Redshirting gives him the option to come back if he needs to or wants to.
We can't and shouldn't assume that a QB that is so raw is going to develop into All American status in two years. Yes, it could happen but he has a long way to go.

And don't assume he is going to have his hand out. He grew up a MSU fan, dreamed of playing at MSU, has an uncle that played QB at MSU and his brother will be on the team next year.
This isn't some kid from Texas with his hand out.

I predict that redshirting won't be a thing anymore by 2029, and that players will have 5 to play 5 anyway, so we might as well not redshirt him if he can help us win in 2025. Plus if he's as good as people are thinking, he would likely declare for the 2028 or 2029 NFL draft anyway.
If it turns out I'm wrong, and he leaves after 2028 not quite good enough for the NFL, but good enough to come back and be a good college QB, I'll really regret that we did that. But I don't think that's how it will turn out.

I think that eventually happens too- maybe as soon as next season. But the problem is there is no guarantee that players will be grandfathered in from this year if that happens.

I'm not sure redshirting will carry the same priority going forward with good players.

Based on what I have heard about KT is that he will stay and be our QB as long as we want him to be QB and we give him a decent NIL package. His dream was to play for Mississippi State so this is not just a recruit Lebby brought in from out of the blue. He was coming here pretty much no matter what. My bigger concern is that he has a lot of development before he becomes a QB in the SEC. It is good he gets to learn from Shapen this year who is actually doing better than I expected.

Money talks, bovine scat walks. If Texas, Bama, UGA, or Ohio State want him, he'll be gone. We don't have pockets anywhere near deep enough to compete with them. And it may be the ability to win a title, not the money. Our ceiling next year is 8-4 at most. Bama, Texas, LSU, and OU are all immediate losses. Auburn and Mizzou are probably losses. We should beat Vandy. SC is a tossup, maybe lean slightly towards a win, although we have to go to them. OM is a tossup like it always has been and always will be.
