View Full Version : Parking along Lee Boulevard

This is a word for word post I put in another thread but nobody had any input on it. It was really a little off topic I guess. I'm not coming today (have to work) but will be back next week for UT. However, someone heading up today might benefit if anybody can speak about this:
How does parking work along Lee Blvd work now? I've always been able to get there early enough to park there for a relatively easy walk to the Union. Now, it's all zoned for Park Mobile. I have used Park Mobile before but it is still sometimes confusing, especially in this case because there are no actual spaces marked off. We arrived for the ASU game and were in shock. Tried to figure it out but couldn't get more then 3 minutes of parking time. Ended up just nudging down the hill with everybody else. It was stupid, while almost no one parked along Lee Blvd, maybe half as many cars as usual. Lots of empty wasted space.
So, is this a University thing or a city thing? And does it even apply to gameday or is it just kind of normal weekday thing?

Don't know about Lee Blvd, but I have called Campus Transportation (or whatever PD transfered me to), to discuss no longer being available to go down Stone Ave to get to Lot 28 for the last couple of years. I was told that it was for the safety of pedestrians. How does this even make sense as they open it for exit (but make you go toward West Point) , when it is usually dark after even afternoon games and there are pedestrians exiting the game on the same street?
To get to Lot 28 for parking, you have to eit 12 to College View, go about 4 blocks through sometimes congested areas and wait on the vehicles of opposing fans to be told the can't park in the center of campus and for this to exit the area. BTW, we leave my son's apartment on Montgomery at least 2 hours before kickoff to get to Lot 28 and park.

I didn't respond because I don't park there. I park in lot 21 and it isn't that bad to me. Go down Blackjack Rd and then take the first left after the roundabout and you're basically in.
Leaving is a little worse to me but still not horrific. I get to Highway 25 in about 30 minutes and that was after Arizona State.
I used to do the research park but I stopped because at the time they were charging about as much for a parking pass years ago and because a shuttle got into an accident (not their fault) after the 2019 Egg Bowl I didn't even get to my car until 12:30 AM and I decided that was when I was going to get a pass.

I park in 17 and even though I'm 'supposed' to exit on Stone per the university egress map, I turn left out of 17 and go out the way you do. For the second time in 2 years, Barney Fife working the intersection of Stone and Blackjack wouldn't let me turn left on Blackjack although the egress map shows that as an exit route.
Last year I was really pissed! As my gf and I were sitting behind about 3 cars in traffic waiting to hit Blackjack, they let at least 10 vehicles coming down Blackjack from the direction of town pass through toward the round-about. When I got there and tried to turn left, Barney yelled at me that I couldn't and that I had to go straight and was very authoritative about it. I stopped in the intersection and asked him about the cars he just let by and he denied any passed by. I flipped him off, called him a stupid m'fer and peeled out across Blackjack (which I could do since I had stopped and cars were long gone from in front of me). It's the only time I've gotten the ass with somebody that my gf didn't chew me out afterwards because she saw what a lying dick he was too.
After the first game this year, they wouldn't let me turn left either so I had to drive to Poorhouse then Oktoc even though I live just 2 miles east of campus on Blackjack. Sure enough when I finally got back to the round-about, here comes a car down Blackjack from the direction that asshole wouldn't let me turn. Really makes me wonder about the IQ of some of the people who are supposed to 'protect' us.

Curious to see if anyone has any info on Lee Blvd parking as requested by the OP. We parked there every game for about ten years along Lee between Campus Book Mart and the Church of Christ. It was a great run that seems to have ended with the addition of the Park Mobile signs. Tried to park there with ParkMobile app for Alcorn game but (like original poster) couldn't get the app to allow enough parking time for the game.
Anyone have any further insight on this?

Lee Blvd area is now in the city limits. I do know that the park mobile stuff in the rest of town is free parking on the weekends.

We did the research park for Arizona State. We waited a long time after the game at the on campus shuttle site; not nearly enough shuttle buses to handle the number of folks.

I do have an update. The spots on Lee Blvd belong to the city. On gameday it's $1.25 per hour for 3 hours then flat $25.00 the rest of the day. 17 that.
The old BSU lot is part of MSU and is the same rate of $1.25 per hour for 3 hours and then flat $40 the rest of the day. 17 that too.
Every time you find a honey hole it may have a good run but they eventually they find it and plant the "pay me" flag there.
It is one of the ways that CFB finds a way to nickel and dime you to death.
