Tulsa beating Okie St. 16-3 at home.

Fans loudly booing at halftime.

It doesn't look good for him.

He hasn't been the same since 2020. Not trying to make this political but Chubba Hubbard I think destroyed his drive to coach. Gundy bowed the knee to the mob and in so doing he hasn't been the same coach since.

There's a couple of dudes on Tulsa's defense I wouldn't mind hitting the portal for us.

He had a pretty good run but he’s probably done after this season.

I tried telling everyone two years ago that he never was that great of a coach when several on here wanted him. He's a cool dude and farms on the side. Bales his own hay even. But if you see the talent he recruits in defense, it's amazing he made it as far as he did as far as wins. Mostly because he was in a suck conference with no defense. He is a great offensive mind though, but he's old school and his run is over. He will likely retire to the farm after this.

With that said, ok state doesn't have the support or the fanbase to be a serious contender. Or the local talent pool. Football is just not the same there. Now wrestling is a different story.

OSU is just experiencing a low spot. They may fire Gundy in-season, however.

They should be as good and better than K State, Kansas, TCU, and Iowa State.

They don't lack for money. T Boone Pickens is a dream booster.

Their headwind is that Oklahoma and Texas left them as a Big12 mid major. They are irrelevant. Plus SMU and TCU might close off the Dallas talent pipeline. Or make OSU as a minnow to about 10 schools that need Dallas.

They actually have a fairly strong fanbase. Same with Kstate, Iowa State, WVU and Texas Tech. The problem is those teams are all stuck in a mid major conference at this point. This board is going to hate this statement but those schools actually have more fan support than us and a bigger base. I?m just not sure what will happen with their football programs in the next 5-10 years because of the position they are in and I think their overall recruiting will trend down due to lack of financial resources and top recruits wanting to play in the big 2. TTU might be fine but not sure about the others. Also teams like SMU and TCU don?t have the same fan support per se, they have more money and have the ability to do better in the NIL landscape. They will start pulling bigger recruits by outbidding some of the other schools.

His foundation gave the school $120 MIL a couple of years ago, 4 years after his death.

Agree. And it profited him nothing

By damn, he is dead, then so is OkSU. Might as well go DII.

The two sons are SMU and UT Austin alumni!

The daughters are socialites, probably spend the Cowboy money financing art galleries.

Win/Loss
2021 12 - 2
2022 7 - 6
2023 10 - 4

He might have lost his drive to coach/recruit, but the timing might be off for that theory. More likely changing landscape of CFB, that didn't help, along with being there as HC 20 years. Maybe he needs a new challenge. The running back ended up apologizing to Gundy.

Some guys get old. He got old. And He didn't reinvent himself. Is what it is. NIL is a different beast of appeasement. He was good. Very good. Ain't no more.

I can get behind that as well. Just something I saw as someone who has liked him for awhile.

Dude I went to grad school there. I married into an OSU/OU family. Local kids where I live get recruited by them. Trust me when I tell you that football ain't the same there. They don't even know how to tailgate. That stadium is tiny. It is the quietest you will ever hear a full stadium. And money., they don't have it. Way behind us.

Finebaum had a media guy from Oklahoma on yesterday talking about osu?s problems. He said that their nil situation is terrible and that there is zero leadership from the president or the ad. Sounds like a big mess that has left Gundy in a bad spot.

I?m thinking their nil woes may be similar to our?s, in that no one was handling it in the beginning. Apparently osu still doesn?t have anyone handling it.
