So the SEC is releasing the opponents for next years 9 game SEC slate for each team. There will be 3 annual permanents and then 6 rotating. Who do we want as our fixed games.
Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky is my vote.

It's going to almost assuredly be Ole Miss and Kentucky. The last spot could be a few teams. LSU would make a lot of sense but they will already have OM, Bama, or Arky for two of their slots so they won't give them another "West" team. Arkansas also makes some sense but they probably will have Texas and A&M already as well. My guess is that it will be A&M. There's the maroon thing, the Ag school thing, and they really don't have another rival outside of TX.

I think the conference is totally bonkers even considering this but oh well. A 9 game schedule will yield several 2 or 3 loss teams who then won't be seeded a high or ranked like the big 10 and ACC schools with patsy schedules.

It should be 6-3 not 3-6. You still play everyone else home and away in 6 seasons. That's okay. Mid level rivalries die when they aren't played every season. They become just another game on the schedule, important but hardly as engaging as they once were. Fanbases are more engaged with each other when there are more familiar faces on the schedule each and every season. And everyone that should be squaring off annually would be on the schedule for the most part. As soon as they started talking about this a couple of years ago, I've believed 3-6 was a real whiff and it's not gonna turn out like they think.

That would be who I would choose but I highly doubt the SEC will give us Vandy.
It would be kind of funny though after our fans expected the SEC to screw us.
I can talk myself into them giving us Vandy. We're talking about the two most prestigious academic institutions in the conference of course.** It is a good contrast in a way because our fanbases are so different and we definitely have no love lost for them in baseball. Also, Vandy is just up the Natchez Trace basically. There is some regional reasons for doing it.

Plus Vandy deserves to have an easier team on their schedule.

We also have a fairly large Nashville alumni base. Also, the decision for these 3 permanent games are going to be completely money driven so I could see them giving us vandy every year to open up the door for Bama to get LSU, Tenn and Auburn or UGA to get UF, Tenn and Auburn etc
