7 catches for 207 and a TD against Notre Dame.

He's a baller. However, we replaced him nicely so no worries.

My sentiment as well. And from what has been said, he was a cancer.

Agree he doesn't change our W/L because WR is one of our strengths this year. He's really helping TAMU though. What hurts the most is when he's doing his player intro for Sunday Night Football in a couple years he won't be saying "Mississippi State University"

I won't be surprised to see him go to the highest bidder and play elsewhere next season

Hard to outbid A&M
From everyone that I talked to during his whole saga last offseason, he will be in the portal again this year. And I have no way to confirm it, but I have a sneaking suspicion there is a team on a certain plain that is getting ready to throw some MONEY at him

He was arrested in March for a group 2 penalty possession of a controlled substance, a felony in Texas facing 10 years and a $10,000 fine. He was released on a $8000 bond and allowed to participate in Spring practice. This info is per a Sports Illustrated Article 3/10. I didn't look for court records on how this was settled.

Is this perhaps part of past reputation as well, and why we probably landed him out of HS when others backed off or at least were not 110% on him

I could see Elko being able to get him focused. He seems like he runs a tight ship.

Coleman is playing extremely well too. Sucks to lose two NFL caliber receivers however as another poster said it looks like we replaced them about as well as we could.

Coleman, Craver and Thompson would have been crazy

When you say run a tight ship, do you mean , Elko letting him practice in the spring despite arrested for possession. Yeah....tight ship.

We wouldn't have Thompson or Evans if we would've kept Coleman and Craver. Thompson was the Craver replacement and Evans was the Coleman replacement.

He was also arrested in a car his freshman year at State with another player by campus police for weed and beer.

That's pretty incredible since he was still a HS senior the year Arnett was a coach.

My bad on the Arnett part. Google Mario Craver arrest by Mississippi State campus police and there are several different articles with details. He was with another freshman player who is also no longer with our program. Editing my above post.

Oh I vividly remember him getting arrested, I believe he was with Harrell, but he was arrested after his first spring with us. Lebby was here at that point.

Yeah, Lebby was the HC. Thanks for correcting me. I try to be very careful to post accurate info on things like this. Now, as per posting my opinions, they can be hit or miss and reader beware! Hail State, Beat NIU!

If you had to add one who would it be:
A) Craver
B) Coleman
C) Zavion
D) Creed
I?m going with Coleman. Also funny how people freaked out over Zavion/RaRa/Creed and none of them are doing a dang thing right now. Biggest outbound transfer WR we have had, at moment, was Heath when he went to OM. Also crazy to think we had Nabers and RaRa in the same class on signing day only for Nabers to flip to LSU. He then tried to transfer to state and SS Jr told him F off. Crazy.

Zavion caught a TD vs UF on Saturday.
I think the answer is clearly Craver to get us a weapon opposite Thompson + he?s the most talented.

C and D are completely out. I think there's definite advantages to either A or B. Coleman can run a route tree better and doesn't have a propensity to do dumb shit off the field like Craver. However, Craver has straight line speed and natural athleticism that you just can't teach. The play against Notre Dame that he broke for the TD is the prime example. He just has shiftiness to get out of that tackle where 99% of WRs couldn't do. I think the kicker is this, if Coleman stays you get Coleman and Thompson. If Craver stays you have Craver and Evans. For that reason, you take Coleman.

But that's the kicker. You don't get Thompson without losing Craver. You don't get Thompson if you lose Coleman. Thompson was targeted and contacted before Craver even entered the portal because we thought we were keeping Coleman and could have Thompson opposite him. We knew we were losing Craver by October of last year.

The only coach who does a consistent job of feeding his #1 is Lane. Yet he has a different #1 nearly every season. We will see if CC even sticks around to become that #1 or if he is jumped by another portal WR next season.
Spreading balls around to receivers is a crap shoot for most programs because not everyone is throwing it 50+ times per game. Sure Zavion had a TD last week but only had 60 yards. Has Creed even caught a ball at Utah?

It is almost a guarantee that he is jumped by portal WRs. Say what you want about Lane, but he runs that ship like a pro team. He brings in a ton of guys and the best one wins reps. He doesn't play favorites once they are on campus.

In the hypothetical I still want Coleman. Coleman and Thompson would be deadly in this offense. I also think had Coleman stayed we could've aimed higher for another outside WR. We probably could've gotten in the game a bit more with a guy like Dane Key

I would definitely take Coleman too. It's almost a no brainer to me really.
