View Full Version : Tennessee week

The boys must take care of business the next two weeks.

But let's assume we do and we walk into Tennessee 4-0. What's the chance the SEC gives us a night game again? Would be such a great bump in experience to have that one be a night game.

We are competing with a lot that week. But dang that would be a great gift

Us and the confederacy are in the same flex window, anywhere from 2:30 until 7 our time. So we know it won?t be at 11:00.

Bama-UGA is already set for 6:30 on ABC, ND/Ark is set for 11:00 on ABC, and Auburn/A&M is set for the 2:30-3:30 window. Our game, SC/UK, and LSU/OM are set for the 2:30/7:00 flex. I would imagine LSU/OM may be the 2:30 ABC game, which would then put as at night, I would imagine.

Yeah... I saw that after I posted this. That's a good thing. Just would be sick to get that night kick.

I hate to say it but if Tenn beats UGA and I think they will then they will win the SEC. So we need to keep it close as possible when we play them.

I don?t know how they will handle the injuries, but the coaches HAVE to fix what happened the second half.......MANDATORY

That would be awesome if we're the night game. I would personally probably prefer that to 2:30 but no complaints either way.

That would probably be the first sellout game since Florida 2018. DWS would be an insane asylum that night.

There are some other good games that day but at least we have a chance.

LSU/Mississippi
Bama/Georgia
Ill/USC
Auburn/A&M

C'mon Vols!!

I would think we won't be ranked high enough, though...

Do teams ranked in the 20s often host CGD?

Unranked teams have hosted GameDay. We have a good shot- have to see what happens.

Tenn beats Georgia and that probably eliminates Georgia/Bama from the list.
USC is unranked right now but should be 4-0 then and Ill is the highest ranked they have been in awhile so thats a chance for them
LSU/Mississippi has a good chance as well like us unless Fla pulls an upset this weekend or TooLame shocks Mississippi
A&M has ND this weekend and Auburn plays at OU next weekend- so a loss by either likely eliminates that game

Good point. May not make the cut with CGD but SEC Nation will probably be here instead.

They love going to places they have never been and do not go often. From what I could find, Illinois has never hosted, though in 2010 their game against NW was in Chicago and was the GD spot. We have only hosted once, in 2014.

Ole Miss has a shot, assuming they are both still unbeaten. I do not think A&M/Auburn has much chance. And I do not think they will go to UGA.

However, Penn State hosting Oregon is also that week, and I think that is absolutely where they will be.

Ranking does not really matter as much as it being a unique location. If they have a game where the host is better than normal, playing another good team, and the host does not usually host, they will go there?unless there is a huge game that week, and if there is a big enough game they almost always go there. They were at Ohio State twice last year and still went opening week this year.

So with PSU/Oregon, I am pretty confident that is where they will go, unless Ole Miss jumps up in the rankings. But they do not play anyone else before that game, so there is really no way for that to happen.

So in this case, no, I do not think we will be ranked high enough to compete with that game.

Penn State and Oregon will be Big Noon Kickoff and Gameday will not double dip with Big Noon 2 times in the first 5 weeks of the season. I think Gameday will come down to 3 places:

1. LSU/OM
2. USC/Illinois
3. UGA/Bama

I would love for us to be in the discussion but I just don't see it as a possibility. That's the most loaded weekend of college football for the year. We might could get SEC Nation but I imagine they go to whichever of the marquee SEC games get Gameday. Now if we could be 6-1 when Texas rolls in on Oct 25th then I think we get it then.

Will be interesting if they go to LSU @ OM or (most likely) Oregon @ Penn State. Gotta hope SEC bias factors in and that the field storming does us some favors here.

Arkansas / Tulane beating the Rebs would be phenomenal to see. That coupled with Tenn win and us taking care of business I think does it.

We should either get SEC Nation or Gameday pending we both win out. They like the underdawg and MSU being 4-0 with potential to be at MSU campus is a hot ticket for ESPN. It would be epic.

Whitson yes, Steen no. We actually played better with Steen out against USM. Last Saturday the OL performed very well against ASU's DL without Steen.

Week 1 they were at OSU where the game was aired on Fox.

Now it could've just been a deal to come full circle for Corso's last game day, but the game itself was on a competing network.

I think that was more to do with Corso's last game than anything else. That was also a big game but as a company, I would have a hard time believing they would do that if there are alternatives. Possibly LSU /OM would also be a big game unless Arkansas does us a solid.

OUT: DL Kavion Henderson, WR Monte Harrison, WR Ismael Cisse, WR Antonio Jordan, RB Cam Settles

QUESTIONABLE: RB Markeylin Batton, DL David Oke, DL Quincy Rhodes Jr.

PROBABLE: P Devin Bale

Considering one of the WR is a freshman, one of the WRs was hurt at media days, and the DL/RB are both freshman - I'd say they overstated that. Harrison had one catch this season. Half his total of last year. So none of the 5 seem overly important.

Biggest is DE Quincy Rhodes being questionable. He?s the best pass rusher on the DL. The rest are role players mostly, but a couple others are also DL which was a thin group to begin with. Arkansas had to move a 2nd string OL to DT right before the season to have enough numbers without having to rely on true freshmen.

I expect the offense to be solid. Year two under Petrino for Green should pay off quite a bit.

Rhodes and Oke were removed from the injury report so that?s good news.
