Rule had changed this year. $500K everytime you do it in all sports. Will probably come out of our revenue sharing funds at the end of the 2025/2026 season. Since this was a non-SEC game, the fine will go to the SEC's post graduate fund so we will get 1/16 back I guess. Do this in a SEC game and the big fine goes directly to the opponent you just defeated. Be interesting to see who's next and it will probably be this weekend. Hope it proves to be worth every penny as our program turns the corner toward many more wins this year and in the future. Now, to all MSU fans, been there, done that in our next big wins. Celebrate in the stands and keep our hard earned, needed $. Hail State!

I was not there at the game, but I can tell you that it appeared to be worth every penny for the students/fans that were on site.. What a moment.. Felt like the past 3 years were wiped away in an instant..
Hefty fine though. Sheesh.

Yep, my family was in the stands and my 4 year old great nephew was crying his eyes out because he wanted to go down to the field to see his cousin, a MSU manager! We were overdue for this as a program and especially a fanbase for far too many years. That being said, spread the news as the rule change to $500K as we win many more! I honestly don't see how the schools involved stop this and it will will probably happen again this weekend with some big games SEC games on tap.

It was worth every penny in Marketing / Advertising. The footage of storming the field was all over every media out there. I know that I was looking for it but it turned into probably the most publicized game in the country.

Ridiculous. I don't understand the outrage over field storming. Almost no one ever gets hurt, much less seriously. It's just the fun police exercising their authority. 17 'em. Worth every penny.

Well worth every penny (I say this as someone who can't write a $500k check lol). Couldn't tell you when the last time we rushed the field was.
Whether by design or default, our stadium design makes it fairly difficult to rush the field. There's really only 2 spots in the corners student can easily jump down from as the main portion of the student section would have a pretty big drop into the gridiron club. So everyone must funnel into a corner or start to spread out along the sidelines.

Wish The schools media team had put out (quickly) that the goal post weren't torn down by fans and instead were taken down by staff.....also that it was a somewhat organized field access experience (they had a countdown and allowed access)... Just so all the DA's out there on social media would quit spewing fake news!

It was well worth it, but 500K is so stupid. They are making a problem where there is not one. No one cares about this.

Exactly. How much would MSU spend on advertising in billboards and TV ads?
The thing is to me, if we don't storm the field every now and then when it is warranted it kind of gives off the impression that MSU doesn't really care all that much about football and that we aren't fun. (And that was true under LT, Stricklin, and Cohen but still)
Football players want to play in crazy environments like we had and it helps with recruiting.

Pretty sure we last rushed the field in 2005 after Croom beat Florida. It seemed like they replayed that game on FoxSportsSouth at least once a week for three straight years.
I thought we would rush the field after Auburn 2014 and in hindsight we should have. Would have been warranted after the 2013 Egg Bowl too. Tearing down the goal posts after the Piss and Miss in 2019 would have been hilarious and would have just added to the lore of the most Egg Bowl Egg bowl of all time.

Yep and Stankey loves his power. Remember the Miss flag thing where he was punishing MSU and OM for a state of Miss issue.

Agree. I was at the 05 UF game too. Norwood would not let us lose. 13 & 14 yeah agree surprised they didn't them. But the harbored negative feelings on this program for 2.5 years came out Sat.

Norwood was a phenomenal player. His 2005 Egg Bowl was pretty special too.
I might be glad that we didn't rush the field since I sprained my ankle pretty badly when Dak scored to tie the game. Which was the only time I really jumped up and down the whole time. My foot was huge the next day and I had to go to work. I basically hobbled around all day.

500k! After MSU just boosted the SOS of every SEC team...
At 500K, that wipes out 1/3 of what Edward Drayton and I donated!

When a couple of big names rush the field tomorrow or in future games will this fine system be reexamined? Can school presidents vote to over rule the SEC office? When was the last time a fan or player was injured in this activity?

Someone broke their femur allegedly when we were rushing the field.
I have seen patients that were injured while they were rushing the field (non-MSU). Usually it's from jumping off of a wall onto the field.
Not a lawyer but I'm guessing the language on the ticket saying you aren't allowed on the playing field at any time probably covers the school for the most part. My patient was a lawyer and she didn't plan on suing the school at all and said she would do it again.

Thanks, hate to see anyone hurt anytime, but fines will not stop this. Watch the big SEC rivalry games tomorrow and it will happen. I have also read that getting the opposing team that just lost a game of this impact off the team safely off the field is also a major issue. Probably just a matter of time until a jubilant , overzealous fan gets in the face of a disappointed player and gets popped.
