"The new College Sports Commission has cleared more than 8,300 name, image and likeness deals worth nearly $80 million, it said Thursday in its first full update on how the new system is working."

At least now it is above board and we know what we have to do to compete. It is better than when we dip our toes in and Ole Miss calls the NCAA to stop us doing what everyone else is doing.
The money seems to be growing though. It eventually has to break. I just hope college football survives.

Be cool if all NIL money was pooled and distributed equally among conference members like bowl and tv money.

So $9,638 a deal. Earth shattering.

It'll change nothing. If a deal isn't approved, then it will just go under the table again.

I don't think NIL is the problem.... the transfer portal is the problem imo

They go hand in hand. Portal makes everyone a free agent every year. Our starting QB is sitting on the bench at LSU just to make more money than he would actually starting and playing football here. That's the NIL problem. They feed each other.

I'm cool with Communism when I am not the richest NIL program in my conference. I want a bite of that Texas and Alabama money. This move would turn back the clock to 1998, we can start making plans for Atlanta in December.
But I am definitely not a Communist when USM comes around to claim that all NCAA money should be distributed among all members.

I agree. The portal problem feeds the NIL problem. And the NIL problem feeds the portal problem.

There's no way that MVB would be starting over Shapen and KT would have beat him out anyway. MVB transferring was inevitable unless he wanted to be MSU's version of Barry Brunetti.

I think two things could really help MSU in football.
1. Smaller roster sizes.
2. Restrictions on how many times a player can transfer. I think you should get 1 free transfer that you can use at any time and then you can transfer after your fourth season as long as you are in a grad program wherever you enroll next.
I'm not sure if it helps MSU or not but it does look like some changes may be coming with the portal where there will only be one window. Also, high school players are potentially going to be offered in November of their senior year officially but I don't think that will affect MSU very much.
One other thing that I think could help MSU is players potentially having 5 full years of eligibility. Then we wouldn't have to decide what to do with a guy like Kamario Taylor.
I think the JUCO eligibility rule could end up really helping MSU as well. There are a ton of raw players in Mississippi and we could send them to JUCO's for two years to develop and then potentially have them for five years. That could really help us with offensive linemen and players that are athletic but play at Shabuta High School in the middle of nowhere.

The 5 years of eligibility is already coming. Few guys from Vandy filed a motion last week. Rosters should be 70 and you transfer only once, agreed.

5 years is inevitable. At this point I'm interested to see if players are grandfathered in or not.

Transfer Portal needs to go back to a one year sit out unless the coach is fired or leaves.

Rosters should be set at 70 dress out.
