I am at fault of this already through one game. I threw a lineman under the bus due to his penalties and missed blocks. I shouldn't have done that. We can celebrate other players that come in and handle their position without running down the other player. These guys are all MSU players. They spent all summer busting ass to get playing time for our entertainment. I for one will try to be better. Celebrate the good without specifically calling out the bad by number or name.

Have no issue with criticism. Just don't make it personal and keep it respectful. No need in degrading people.

So we can't call them overpaid pampered lazy ass slugs when they drop 4 passes, Miss 5 tackles, and 8 blocks?

What really needs to stop is the segment of fans that are always complaining and say I can’t name one guy on the roster, I don’t know these players blah blah blah.

This isn’t an MSU issue, it’s at every school now. Whether you like it or not that is the system. The days of allegiance are gone. We are in a paid mercenary era.

But that is not gonna stop the blue bloods from filling their stadiums. So the more that our fans whine, gnash their teeth and refuse to attend the games it just solidifies us further and further in the have not category.

And those that say they would rather us dominate the Sun Belt than fight to reach the middle of the pack in the SEC are even worse. Can you imagine how dead Davis Wade would be with a steady schedule of Mississippi Southern, James Madison, La Tech and Marshall?

Now I will add this:

Contacting them directly via social media in a poor or disrespecting manner is not ok. We can talk about games and player's play and performance on the boards- but contacting them directly to make it personal is not acceptable.

Bingo. Either being paid or not, they choose to be here, and as long as they have on the M&W we shouldn't run them down. If anything, say your criticism of them and move on to pumping up those performing at a high level.

Screw that. These young men are paid mercenaries making more money than most of us can ever dream about making. I agree about not making it personal, but they opened themselves up when they decided to take money and have unlimited free agency. If they don't like it, they can always go back to college sports being amateur sports with a one transfer limit. I have zero problem with naming names and harshly criticizing poor performance.

They are paid Bullldogs for one year and that is it. If you get paid, you take the abuse we all take that work for the big boss.

Also not sure how many True Maroon Bulldogs we have; we have some. I'm talking about they are all bout playing for MSU not just working the highest bidder every year.

You serious Clark?

It happens every week in every sport to players. Social media has its good parts but it has also allowed the worst parts of society to elevate into direct contact.

And SVD is right- sports betting and its legal growth has made it that much worse. Bama fans lost their ass this past weekend and are livid- mad at the world

This is what many of us hope happens with Noxubee Taylor. Really hoping that maroon bloodline gets us a discount in keeping him with us down the line.

Unfortunately our fans can?t figure this out.

I'll be completely honest, and maybe this is why NIL doesn't bother me, I've never rooted for players. If they were playing for Mississippi State then I rooted for them WHILE they were playing for Mississippi St. I've never cared what the name on the back of the jersey said, only what's on the front. I've never been under the illusion that these kids dreams were to play at Mississippi State because for 99% of them it wasn't. Enjoy them while you have them and if they give you anything after then that's awesome. Jeffrey Simmons is a prime example of this. Jeff didn't grow up dreaming of playing at Mississippi State. He grew up dreaming of playing big time college football. We provided him the avenue to do that. Now the kicker is that Jeff has given back. He's donated to the school, even though it's never published, and really cares about Mississippi State. He shows up all the time to support other Mississippi State teams and is usually in Starkville for at least one game a year and will come back for practices here and there. Fletcher Cox on the other hand, a great Bulldog by the way, is just about the exact opposite. He really doesn't show up and support. I don't think he gives money and he's never really around the team. Does it mean I think less of him? Not one bit. Fletcher was a hell of a player for us and deserves to do whatever he wants with his time and money. My point is, enjoy them while they're here.

These guys are still out there, I think Isaac Smith is one and there are others that stay at somewhat of a discount. It is not just loyalty but if a player likes it's coaches and situation, they would be crazy to leave for anything other than life changing money. Moving for the sake of moving is not smart and could land you in a less than desirable situation. That's one reason why we need a consistent coaching staff and not a revolving door of them. I hope Kamario sees it that way and intends to stay because he is not going to get a better situation with coaches and I think he can be a difference maker for us over the next couple to three years.

Sure, there will be a point where the monies are too great. Life changing money is just that, live changing.

Ok, go back to the JWS (my all`time favorite State HC), way of talking about and IDing our players and maybe they won't get their feelings hurt when they look at their new inflated bank accounts in this NIL/Portal "Wild , Wild West". Examples: Number 54 was having a tough time at RT until he got banged up and when we brought in number 74, and reshuffled the OL, blocking got much better. Number 51 had a knee and didn't get to play. Getting him back against ASU will really help the OL. How about this system?****. Hail State and all our players!

"Moving for the sake of moving". This is the elephant in the portal room that no one including the NCAA or Congress wants to address. About half of these portal jumpers do not even find a landing spot. No more scholarship and odds are no degree which might help them in life if they value a free education at all. What, 1% or so make the NFL? Announcers: so and so is at his 4th school and has two years eligibility left. Bet his GPA and progress toward a degree is a joke, but does anyone even care anymore? The term "student athlete" was at times somewhat iffy at best, now very questionable.

This. I know alot of the players from the 80 team and dam near every one of them are still true maroon. Even the ones who didn't play. Now days they kids are free agents. They get paid in college more than most of us make for a one year service then off to the highest bidder. And yes for example Arch deserves all the criticism he is getting now as well as any future accolades he might receive. This is a business now.

I don't disagree but if a player is not interested in getting an education, that is on him. Personal responsibility! Football players have always taken a bunch of SOP courses and even brag about it. They have tutors do their work, take courses that don't make them attend classes and they were never about the education.

Some of that is on our society norms but the smart ones see passed it and get themselves an education. They still want to get paid but do it in a way that allows them to get an education.

Who said I wasn't respectful to people. I try to be online, if not, I apologize.

I am 5'9 1/2" 180lbs, turn 62 on Thursday and can't whip anyone's ass. But, that doesn't mean I can't critic a player. If they played badly, then they played badly. These aren't first graders, they are grown men being paid quite well to do a job.

Now, name calling and belittling crap, makes the poster look weak-minded to me but a player not being able to handle critism of "THEIR" bad play makes them the weak-minded one.

If they get their feelings hurt about a message board post on their subpar play, maybe they should play better.
