Say what you will, but this is some great leadership by putting this together.

MSU is basically creating our own "Battery" like the Braves did. It will be transformative.

Not a bad idea. They need more rooms.

I expected it to be in the 250-300 room range so 122 is a little scarce but that goes along with Mariott's other Tribute Portfolio. My guess is that it'll be in the $300-350/night range with a two night minimum on game weekends. However, that should help some with the prices at the other hotels in terms of price.

That would be outstanding. The Battery is awesome. I love that area.

Just asking all of you who complain about the small town atmosphere in Starkville. Will this help?

I have been involved in a handful of hotel development projects over the last 15 years. Unless you are in a major market, 122-180 is about all you are going to get nowadays. The economics of seasonal travel (like where I live, and like Starkville) pretty much lock it in at that level.

Oh I think it will be $500 a night easy on game weekends. Probably $600. The Hampton inn is over $400 a night now for Arizona state and that hotel is meh

Alright its been 15 years since i lived in starkville and had all the areas memorized.
Someone wanna give me some lamdmarks where this would be going exactly?
Russel to university or university to collegeview area? Thats all trees currently for the most part and open but rhe viewpoints back to dws look more like the first and not much in that square and that would really connect the campus to the cotton district

Starkville and MSU is transforming before your eyes. 10 years from now we will be booming and a hot spot - mark it down. With that will come a good football program and other stuff. It is going to happen.

The new Presidential library is also on tap to be built at edge of campus.

The hotel fronts University Drive (which leads to the Cotton District. The land bridge is between University Drive and Russell.

Almost all of this will be built on what used to be Colonel Muldrow and the area on the right from Muldrow to campus.

So where the russell inn and visual arts center are?

I just hope there are some decent parking garages there. That's really the worst part about the Cotton District. You almost have to park on campus and walk.

Well there's no Russell Inn anymore. There were houses owned by Mitch Mitchell and the arts building owned by the University. The way I understand it is that all of that will start right across the street from The Gin condos. They will also utilize the space by The Mill as well.

What do you mean? Its still open per google and their site.

After looking at this photo i understand better.

Looks like grant library is east of the mill and 12 on the south side of Russell on an empty field currently

The hotel will be facing university.
New pedestrian walkway over 12 to connect to the existing walkway to the stadium/ junction.

Hopefully it all is completed

This is so true. We better invest in parking infrastructure.
